ABS for center console

ABS for center console
I am going to make a new top for the center console of a 90-92 style Camaro dash so I am trying to find the right material. I am pretty sure it is ABS material, so I bought some 1/16" ABS and it seems to be about as flimsy as poster board. Should I get some 3/16 or or 1/8" thick ABS or are there kinds of ABS? Any good suppliers? I am wondering about fiberglass, but I am worried about it cracking. I would try aluminum, but I wouldn't want to paint it and then scratch it. I could powder coat it, put I'm not sure that would blend in with the rest of the interior's plastic.

I don't know if you ever found what you were looking for, but for your future reference I have used a Marine Grade black textured HDPE sheet for interior panels. I made a custom instrument cluster panel from a 1/4" thick sheet. You can purchase this from the following link: http://www.mcmaster.com/#hdpe-sheets/=n31dqq
I have attached a photo of my dash so you can see what it looks like. The texture and gloss of this material matches the stock dash and console material pretty closely.
