LT1 wiring
Ok, Don't think i'm stu[pid or anything, here is what I have:
92 RS
95 LT1 from an F-body
700R4 from my car
Engine harness for a 95 LT1 (f-body)
I need to know how to hook all that to my interior, i guess i need a dummy version or somthing, i read all kinds of stuff on here, but its like it makes no sense. So if I could get like a version for LD people that would be great. Thanks

You could order a wiring harness booklet from painless.

I was looking at the Painless manual, and seen it had its own fuse box and check engine light, would this be easier to just buy that harness, as opposed to using the factory harness, or would it just be a waste of money?

You are going to end up spending about 500-700 bucks for the painless harness. Save the money and do it yourself since you only have to splice in about 8 wires. injectors, PCM power, PCM switched power, tach, oil, water, speedo and fans.
I have all of mine spliced in, I use the original check engine light, have my skipshift light hooked up to the shift light, and also have an OBDII connector so I can do my tuning as well. The hardest part is to trace the wires to hook up.

In simplest terms, get the wiring diagrams for your year car and the diagrams for the car the engine came out of and compare the two. Use the shbox website for a photo of the LT1 wiring harness. Then, look at the wiring diagrams to find out where wires lead out of or into that harness into/from the chassis harness. These are the wires you will need to connect. They will include PCM power and ground, injector power, coolant temp, oil pressure, tach, speedo. Those are the basic ones you will need.

"OK, what wire do I splice first?"
"Which wire next?"
"OK now which one...?"

But you know what Kevin, I don't mind doing that....mainly because I've been through it, and know how it is trying to figure out reading harnesses, if my experience can help someone else get their car running then great. I've helped a couple of people so far and AFAIK their cars are running great.
