Got my kid a new car. LT1 going in.
My engine builder had a 91 Z with 57k on the clock. He asked if my son (who will be 16 in a few months) wanted it. It had been sitting in a storage container since 1999 and was going to be a full out race car with a 434 with twins with 1800 hp. A guy offered him cash money for the motor so the car has just been sitting and had not seen daylight since 1999. So we took it and a low milage LT1 and 4L60E he had laying around. Kid picked up the whole package for 3k and they told him to pay them whenever he had the cash. So they towed it to our house. My son did a quick wash to get rid of the years of dust. This was Saturday. Sunday we put most of the interior back in and cleaned it up. Today we sanded the engine bay down and prepped for paint. Pulled the wiring harness out as well. We shot the bay in a semi gloss black. I am sure he will get on here looking for help from you guys. Anyway, here are some pics.

wow, thats a little bit of a time machine. That car is essentially 8 years old since it hasn't seen weather or anything like that. Thats great.

That's a lucky son! Looks like you'll have some good father and son time with this one. I really like the blue color. Looks like the body is in perfect shape. Was it put in storage because of blown motor and/or tranny?

Beautiful car, i guess it should be though, it's been put in solitary confinement since it was 8 years old.

Thanks guys. Yes it was a great find. I couldn't pass it up. Body is perfect. Not even a hint of rust. Have to probably get the hood and spoiler painted, typical for the year, but other than that, the car is mint. The original engine/ tranny combo is long gone as well as the motor replacement that was in it gone. The car comes from a family of racers. The father is 70's drag racer Jerry Clayton. In fact parked in front of the Z was a bad *** T/A. Jerry used to race that one as well. Here is a few pics of that....

A little update. S-10 manual steering in, AC and Heat delete done, Tranny and motor in today, intake coated. Motor is a 96 Impala SS motor with 15k on the clock. Gonna probably switch out the heads and intake over the winter to Aluminum heads and correct intake for them. My son is gonna save up for a hotcam kit I think. That will be tame enough for him. Should be a good looker when she is done. It is so much easier working on this than my 4th gen. I miss my 3rd gen after working on this with him. Anyway, here is a picture as she sits today.
