305 5 speed to LT1 5 speed?
so this is not one of those lt1 and t5 are you crazy?! kinda things but just some general questions, but heres the scoop, got a 305 5 speed but im currently lookin for an upgrade over the winter, so i found this LT1 auto outta 94 impala ss for $500 everything is there but should i keep the auto atatched or throw my t5 in for now till a tk0 or t56?
Oh and dumb question but im not sure so gonna ask but will a 305/350 flywheel off a 89 camaro work on the lt1? the lt1 doesnt come with one

Re: 305 5 speed to LT1 5 speed?
yea its possible there both 1piece rear mains so i dont see why not. i ran the light ho305 flywheel on the 350 with no problems.
the only problem you will have is the ecu is diffrent form a stick car to a auto car. Me i like having a stick but those 4l60e's with the lt1 are a good set up they run out pretty well. i would run the matching set. and build the auto. but if your sticking with the t5 it will take it. and get the t56 later
does the lt1 come with all the pullies and stuff?? is it complete

the fly wheel will work. I would keep the T5 for now, it will be fine as long as you don't do a lot of 5k clutch dumps

You can have the PCM reflashed for the manual trans, that isn't a big issue
If you keep the T5, you will have an issue with the speedo though
The VSS are different.... one way around that is to use a tail shaft housing and reluctor off a V6/5 spd 4th gen car. There is a post about it in this forum somewhere
Good luck with the swap. I enjoyed the results of my swap

It will work but like said above don't run it hard and expect to last, the reason GM did not put one behind a 350.

yes the motor is complete outta 94 impala ss and im aware of the t5 not holding up but, just seeing what would be easier id love a t56 or tko but hopefully over the winter i can get one but would be nice to be able to move it under its own power

Re: 305 5 speed to LT1 5 speed?
lmao ya the 6 speeds are expensive and i have been lookin around but i found a new core on ebay for about 900-1000 but i got an off question....that 4l60e that came wth my lt1 that im not using, and my 04 sierra witha 4l60e, how much would it take to get that trans in my truck as my truck is startin to slip, i have a feeling the trans wont bolt up to the motor as its an ls type motor, so would i have to swap the interals?

Re: 305 5 speed to LT1 5 speed?
one more question, im trying to find a set of headers that will work for my car, i know i need 1 5/8 primaries, d port and angle plug compatable, but the part that makes it hard to find is one for a standard transmission, any one know of anyone that makes a long tube for my setup without completely breaking the bank?

No, the tailhousing is the shifter mount and S10s are to far forward to use in Fbodys, or much of anything really

any headers for a 3rd gen will work as long as they are 1 5/8. Your engine will have iron heads(unless they were swapped out for Alum.) won't have angled plugs. The hedmans with the d-ports fit the best though.

You're after the tailhousing, VSS and reluctor ring. It really makes no difference

Re: 305 5 speed to LT1 5 speed?
question, a transmission of the 4th v6 t5 is equal to that of a 3rd v8 v8, I mean put a t5 transmission of a v6 camaro camaro 4th in the 3rd with a V8 bell and all the rest of the 3rd v8 just use the box gear
