Re: My LS3 Swap

Here's the thread, I think I used the term "pin" not "peg" which might have made it difficult to find.

This is about a $3.00 fix.

Re: My LS3 Swap

You can use a factory 4th gen hose. www.rockauto.com has them for around $25 if I remember correctly.

Re: My LS3 Swap

seem like everyone is making the own radiator support piece for the top well i made one too. the reason for this is that the 06 gto k&n cai hits where the stock radiator hose support is modified the stock piece (organally dual fan set up)

Re: My LS3 Swap

So I know the appeal of using the Erod package in a CA car is for smog compliance. Since it is an LS3 designed for swap applications how do they address the exhaust manifolds and catalytic converter requirements CA has? In order to get an E.O. number the erod has to have been certified with a specific set of parts. Do those actually work in a third gen?

I believe it does, the one concern is the cross member, but hawks sells the cross member that allows clearance...

Re: My LS3 Swap

as far as the center dumps origanlly equipped on the ls3, no those dont work, i tried to get them to work but w/o a tubular k-member theres no way to get them to work

but whenu purchase the erod crate engine u also get a pair of 2010 camaro exhaust manifolds on the side, now those do work, the driver side so far no problem but the collector on the passenger side needed to be tweak a little (will get some pic later)

im still tinckering with the exhaust for now, no money for hawks lt at the moment but will get them later down the road (even thought im in cali).

the crossmember is cut and now welded up to to clear the vette oil pan

thats all for the moment

Re: My LS3 Swap

As far as a power steering hose, you can take it to any company that makes hydraulic hoses. (Hose power, Master hose, Hydro builders, etc.) As long as you have an example of the correct fittings they can make it for you for between $25 to $50. I had hose power make mine out of stainless braided for $60. (They charge more for ss braided.) Took them about 10 min to swedge the ends on the hose for me. If you get stuck looking for a place to make them, call hertz equipment rental in your area (Or any other heavy equipment rental company, such as H&E, sunbelt, etc.) and ask where they get their hydraulic hoses made. They shouldnt have any problem telling you this info.

Re: My LS3 Swap

I used a fourth gen camaro hose. But this is one thing i will change. I had to modify it pretty good to get it to fit. But for how much care i took into making the engine look "at home" Im not happy with it at all. I tried to get a custom hose made up but i had a hard time finding someone who could make one. I will find someone who can.

Re: My LS3 Swap

(gotta get a better camera, taking my pics with a camera phone and not as good quality)

quick update:

1. had the aluminum driveshaft cut an balanced(car been lowered quiet a bit its was pushing the yoke too far into the trans)

2. swap out the fuel pump for a high-flo walbro pump

3.not to sure if this matter or not, but on installation of the ecu(putting it in the same location as the stock tpi ecu, under the dash/passenger side)
i figured i replace the heater core i wasnt too sure if there might have been any deposits or anything left from the old tpi engine, and i didnt want it to circulate into the new engine so went ahead and change it.

4.starting on the wiring.

Re: My LS3 Swap

Over on LS1tech you mentioned that you looked for a GTO t56 specifically. What was your reasoning for that over an f-body LS1 t56?

The gto has double/triple cone syncros an the fbody has single/double the gto has lowered 1-3 gear as the fbodys are not as tall

1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th R
gto.......2.97 2.07 1.43 1.00 .84 .56 2.90
fbody....2.66 1.78 1.30 1.00 .74 .50 2.90
2.66:11.78:11.30:11.00:10.74:10.50:12.90:1

I've heard the gto has a little more strenght but not to sure

Could you get a picture of the tweak you did to the 2010 manifolds? I have a chance to score a set, of practically brand new ones, for very cheap. However, I want to make sure they will fit before doing that.

ill try to get one as soon as i can but they'll fit the only prob is the passenger side need a little tweaking

but heres some updates
-need help with exhaust went to my buddies
-powersteering not tohappy with but will change later
-went with black fitting and black nylon fuel lines not to crazy about stell braided or red/blue fitting
-crappy pics from iphone agian will get better camera once it all cleaned up and complete
-the upper radiator hose fits perfect for later style ls water pumps with the water neck on the driver side(2007-earlier have water neck more towards passanger side) hose is a gates

They have another one specifically for the 2010 Camaro but it is like 350 friggen bucks. Just curious if this sort of thing is worth it. Or if it is even an option depending with the t56 you went with. Just curious.

Cool, good call on taking it easy to let the engine tolerances settle in. Lemme know what you think about the short throw if you remember next month or somethin.

I am doing an LS376 into a 91 Camaro and am very interested as to what oil pan or what cutting of the k-member was done, any help here would be great.

the k-member if keeping factory piece must but notched not to much to clear the step in the oil pan not to bad

i know its been awhile since iposted on my swap, but just a update and some suggest parts i have found that may interest alot of u lsx swappers.

first the update
-i did have it dyno a couple of months ago and cant seem to fing the graphs i had but the hp was 379.76 rwhp

the stock 10 bolt is now broke time for a 9in or 12 bolt -spike iroc just might have give mwc a call that housing looks badass.

alot of u have the heater coolant lines sitting on the corvette coil cover or something to that effect but i boughts these not to long ago i really like i will have to get a pic of them installed but the part numbers

pn 28471, 28479 theyre both gate hoses that have a 90* bent to let u hide them a lil better

i knew i was forgotten something yesterday i ended making a threw pipe so i remove the cats and install them at the time of smog (excuse the bad pics there all from a camera phone) im still using the exhaust manifolds had not bought headers do to the fact ive been realling considering a turbo for the forced induction ,and considering a flowmaster y-pipe for a cleaner look

Re: My LS3 Swap

For my LT1 swap, I cut out a hole in the driver's side battery tray, and I am bolting an aluminum plate with a 3.5" tube welded onto it, and I am running the filter right underneath the battery tray so it'll get cooler air than what's in the engine bay.

I got an Air Force aluminum throttle body elbow off ebay for like $49 (this is the cheapest aluminum elbow I could find) and just bought the aluminum intake tubing separately. I'm using a silicone coupler on the tube on the battery tray plate, so I can adjust the small 45 degree elbow that will be fastened onto it, so the intake tube from the throttle body will mesh with it, then I'll just tighten it down and voila!!

It should work very nicely. Wish I had a pic of it all completed, but my engine still isn't built yet. Here's a pic of my foamboard template for the aluminum battery tray plate and then another pic of my original idea with the smaller plate with tube. I decided to go with a bigger plate that will hide all the holes in the battery tray and will look cleaner:
