Dumb 4th gen fuel tank swap question
Havent been on here in a while, but i just got another Camaro, and the gas tank is shot. I looked at the sticky and found a lot of useful info, but im thinking about doing something that may sound backwards.
Motor is stock tbi 305. If i bought a complete tank and sender from a 99-02, could i use the pump thats in it, even though it has more pressure than my stocker? I thought i read somewhere that tbi cars had an external regulator? So if thats the case, do i need to remove the 99-02 regulator like the guy showed in the sticky? Will the sender/pump wires just plug up or does anyone have a schematic?
Surely somebody has done this. The reason im thinking about going with the plastic tank is cost and not having to worry about it rusting again.

Re: Dumb 4th gen fuel tank swap question
Will need to remove the LS1 regulator. The LS1 pump should work fine if the TBI setup has a regulator. I use a LS1 pump/tank for my LT1 fuel setup which should be the same as a TBI/TPI fuel setup.
The LS1 sending unit won't output the correct fuel level signal. Need GM part number #25319676 - sender out of a '97 Grand Prix.
May have to splice wires but we are only talking 3 wires. Ground should be black, the other 2 I don't know for sure from memory. http://92b4crs.tripod.com/86wiring/dia-pics/81-1.jpg

Re: Dumb 4th gen fuel tank swap question
Sorry for digging up an old thread...
I'm about to swap out my rear end and thought about swapping my tank for 4th Gen LS1 tank. However, I probably won't be swapping to a LS motor for a few months. I have a TBI motor now can I run both fuel regulators?

Not sure about running both regulators but if you get a V6 tank with pump you will need to run the Corvette style filter/regulator when you swap to LS. being as the V6 pump does not have a regulator.
