How do I identify what year my LT1 is?

I've looked up several numbers on the block and parts on the engine
(10125327, 12552138, 10214196, GM SGI E105)
and I've come up with this
The engine seems to be a 94-95 (and the timing cover # seems to agree), but some places seem to say that the intake (12552138) is from a 96+ engine. How can I narrow it down? And how can I tell if the distributor is vented or non-vented? The engine was rebuilt so it guess it could be using parts from different years.

Oh and is the ALDL port in the wiring harness or on the PCM? Because I can't seem to find it either place...

Re: How do I identify what year my LT1 is?

92-93 are easy to spot. The intake lacks a fuel line crossover up front and the TB has a TV cable stud

94-95 are the most common. Check the front cover near the bottom, it should be smooth

96-97 have a crank sensor on the bottom pass side of the front cover

If you want to get really picky, 92-94 have the old 2 connector coil just like older TPIs. 95-97 use a single connector coil also found in vortec trucks

Vented optis have a vacuum port on the bottom drivers side, non vented dont. Non vented use a short stubby connector, vented use a ridiculously long connector. Be careful unplugging it, 9/10 break the tab off

Then comes the common info:
Alum heads F/Y-body
Iron heads B-body

Drivers side accessories Y-body
Pass side accys F/B-body

If you got a basket case engine or the PO did, narrowing down what it originally came from will be difficult. The good news is nearly everything is interchangeable

The '94 f-body had the spline mounted opti as well, the pinned for that year was on the Impy SS, the '95 f-body will have the pinned opti with the larger hole for it.
