make your own 4" maf
instead of buying a tsp, lingenfelter, etc. maf and housing I went the cheaper way.... spectre 4' maf housing 9705 (34.95), ebay ls7 maf (49.95), and an ebay pigtail (21.95)....ends you with this

i had mine tuned out also... major pita for myself! cant even change the airfilter without it affecting the tune..

Wow this may be something I need to do this winter. My whole cai is 4" except for where it has to step down to the 3 1/2" or 3 1/4", whatever it is, stock truck maf.
My tuner had mine tuned out the first go around also, but the start up issues were annoying, couldn't get it to be reliable on a cold start.

The ls7 sensor does have an internal iat sensor.. But id relocate say a stock ls1 sensor into the start of your cai to avoid the aluminum heat soaking the sensor and giving a false iat reading

thats a cool mod, i myself am figuring out my air intake dilemma right now, im trying to run a RAII hood with matching box made for it and i cant seem to find something that works right. i saw the blueish vert bird that guy made using a whisper lid, fiberglass etc etc but i havent worked with fiberrglass yet. im starting to look through my yard for other types of OEM airboxes, gm, euro and japanese to find something. frustrating.

For anybody that does this, just be advised that without a tune from a shop that's got the talent to build a custom MAF table, chances are your performance will suffer drastically. It's not likely that a shop will just be able to copy an LS7 table due to the different air path in this configuration, but at least that might get you into the ball park. Either way, running this setup with your existing tune is not likely to provide the best results.

Just thought Id add in some GM part numbers. I ordered mine through GM Parts direct and Ive added the PN's and the ( as of today ) price below. I went for this instead as I dont want so many couplers in my system I am only after the bung and will weld it into the pipe itself so I'll only have the silicone elbow from the TB around to the piping then filter. Nice and neat

not a bad price, considering I paid around $60 for a used truck MAF (85mm) and the stock LS1 fbody ones seem to go for over $100 on ebay

hey man I have a question about your maf sensor. Your saying this will work on a 86 camaro and which pigtail did you buy. I just built a 350 too motor for my car and have a custom tune and I feel like my stock maf sensor is holding my motor back and wanna upgrade it
