I'm working on another swap harness. this time a stand alone.

I did all of the following:
- removed loom and tape
- removed all of the proper pins from PCM connector (on LT1swap)
- pulled all of those wires from the harness

here is where I'm stuck. Every one of those wires that I pulled from the PCM connector runs back to some other connector in the harness or to the other PCM connector. These connectors have other wires that are still apart of the harness.

Am I supposed to cut off any connector that has a de-pinned PCM wire connected (thus cutting all wires)?

or

Am I supposed to remove only the depinned PCM wire from the particular connector?

WHAT IS IT THAT I'M SUPPOSED TO DO NOW???

also, what should I do with the PCM pins that run over to the other PCM connector (red to blue).

the LT1swap info says to remove them from 1 side but makes no mention of removing them from the other.

I'm sorry, I have been looking for hours and some of the stuff that seems obvious to everyone is not clear at all.

What wires are you pulling from the PCM?

What connectors do they feed?

Once the signal wires are depinned, there should only be power/grounds left and they run to the fuseblock or a splice pack. They can be cut free if the connector is being removed

if your doing a stand alone harness, only wires needed are sensors / injectors to the PCM and power and ground wires.
I would depin and a fused power block.
so it keeps a good, clean looking harness.

Your absolutely right. I will give the pin #'s when I get home.
Dash connectors and fuse block are missing. I'm thinking this harness may have already been hacked up.

When I got my harness it was cut at the computer... Can't get much worse than that for figuring the harness out.

Go find your pinout sheet, figure out what you do and don't need.

Then, find yourself a systematic wiring diagram. I have an amazing set I found on some bimmer forum that lay it out in very basic terms. Shows exactly from what pin on the ECM it comes from to what pin it goes to on the connector. Also shows where power wires go and the grounds... It made the entire harness make sense to me, and it shows just how simple it really is to do a standalone harness... If I can figure out a way to get the pictures of them off my iPhone and on to the forum here I'll post them up in another post to hopefully have them stickied (they are that handy).

I compared that diagram to my pinout sheet (believe I got that from LT1swap) and it was identical so I went to town pulling apart the harness, pulling and moving pins and labelling it all. All I have to do now is get some wiring and start making my joints.

WTR, Thanks for sharing that info ( drawing,schematic) I could have used that and made my harnesses a lot faster and understood them better, but now I have them for the next time.
