Re: using factory starter on ls swap

If you end up with an original GTO T56 bellhousing, go with the GTO starter to match.

Other than that oddity, the truck and 4th gen starter work for swaps without issue.

Re: using factory starter on ls swap

FYI the GTO starter is manufactured by Mitsubishi and has the pull-in solenoid clocked differently than the F-body or truck starters. This different clocking puts the solenoid protruding more sideways from the engine and can complicate some brands of LT headers if they are in the plan. As JMD stated the GTO bellhousing is the only one that works with this starter as that different solenoid clocking has the starter sitting up closer to the block and interferes with F-body and truck bells.
