I'm from belgium and for my first car I bough something exotic. a camaro
why is it exotic ( if there are 20 of these cars still driving every day then that would be a lot)
even more amazing. the car costs a 1000 euro on taxes yearly. ( V8 5.7 would be 2000 euro ) and as a student thats a lot.
i'm not gonna mod this 1 all out since
a) problems with the laws over here about tuning you cant even change swaybars. or convert brakes.
b) every thing here is x1.5 but then in euros.
so if an exhaust here costs 300$. you can expect that over here the same exhaust would cost 500 Euro.
now how does the car look.
when I bought it, it was badly painted and had a grey leather interior. and 2 diffirent kind of rims. the fog lights where deleted. no rear spoiler and so on.
found a new interior out of a completely tuned but destroyed firebird.
refixed the headlights and putted in hella H4 headlights ( and since I connected the 2 of the dimlights to my old foglightswitch I now have
2 lowbeams ( normal )
2 lowbeams ( foglightswitch )
4 highbeams.
lets say that at night I can see things ery clearly.
also added anniverary striping, reatached the spoiler, and painted the bumper infront of the headlights in Hogh gloss black.
interior lights are done with LEDs ( 2 led bulps with 4 leds in the rearview mirror. and in the middle also white leds.
the ashtray light ( just underneath the top of the dash ) has been changed by a red led ( this is looks awesome if you also changed your instrument and shifter lights to red).
at first when i saw the first pic i was kinda grossed out, but as i scrolled down... wow man that looks really good. i'm digging the color combo. o and btw u said it was leather right? it looks like cloth to be maybe its just the picture or i'm seeing things, regardless nice car and keep up the good work
the original seats where full grey leather seats. but those front seats were completely ripped. + I had the trouble of always sliding left to right in those seats during hard cornering.
these new seats are somekind of vinyl leather type side with cloth inserts. looks good. and thx to the cloth your not sliding around in the seat.
( the roofline and doors are from the same type of vinyl )
color of the car is the original 1 ( WA-9540 ) it changes color depending of the light. it can go from that brown color you see in the first pic. to the bright red color you see at the final pic.
color of the striping is silver.
things that still needs to be done. ( flamekit with injectors gasoline injectors in the exhaust ( to burn those who hang on your tail to close )
nordkog dash ( this way my tach will finally run right )
oil cooler, transmission cooler
IROC hood with zelfmade working louvres ( wich open and close at a preset temp or RPM )
gonna make the car sing when I remote start it. ( gonna try this with 2 pioneer boxes under the front bumper and a second radio in the trunk, and some red led neons behind the front grille ) some of you people will think those light will make the car look riced. but im gonna make it look very sweet
and if i got enough money and time trying to make the car more aerodynamic by building my own bellypan from the front to the back.
last part is gonna try to install independant suspension from the C4 under the rear of my camaro. just for handling purposes
just wait till the nordskog dash is in.
( btw, car also has a bulldog security startkit in it )
very funny since nobody over here knows what a startkit is.
only 20 daily driven camaros in your country? thats crazy! hard to think of something as common as a 3rd gen maro an exotic.. car looks great though, shame laws won't let you mod it more.. that thing is beggin for a engine swap! Very clean, the interior looks awesome! I'm confused though, you saw you can do mods but you can legally put flamers in the exhaust tips?
I can put them on. I just can't use them on the street.
same goes for neons under the car.
but you can't swap angines unless you have autorization from gm for your mods. ( something any motorcompanie is not going to allow to give insurance on )
how would they know it's not stock though? I had my 89 registered and insured as a v6 for years with a v8 in it.. I guess inspection and stuff is a little different over there? Does it actually say what engine it's suppose to have on your registration or insurance cards or whatever you have to carry?
its says the cubic inches. I know that normally they can not check for this unless they tear up the engine itself.
problem is, if you ever have an accident with it. and insurance checks it out. they can say thats what caused the accident and keep pull there hands of the case. making you pay the victem for the rest of your life.
not only that but for every year your car was taxed as a v6 with a v8 in it. you have to pay the extra money times 2.
with other words. if you own the camaro for 5 years. they find out you have a v8 in it.
you would have to pay 5yearsx2000$x2. making you pay 20000$.
everything is possible here, put if sombody finds out, your screwed.
lets see. 1)No extra lightning on a car ( no neons or whatsoever ( instead if your on private property ) 2) original motorlocks have to be keepen. together with original turnside of the hood. ( no corvettestyle opening for my camaro ) 3) front and front side windows can only be 15% darkened. 4) only tinted rearwindow if you have 2 side mirrors 5) front licence plate in the middle or on side of driver 6) rear plate. also in the middel or side of driver 30cm above the road enough lighted only 5 degrees turned must be readable from 90 feet away 7)replacement front lights ( non xenon ) e- or E-type aproved original color 8) replacement front lights ( xenon ) e- or E-type aproved original color needs height regulator ( try putting this on a camaro ) needs washerfluid installation to clean the glass 9) if amplifier is more than 500W, must be fused 10) front spoiler max 5cm infront of nose 11) rear spoiler not higher then highst point of car. must be made out of high absorption material ( polyester, plastic, rubber ) may not be welded on the chassis 12)outside mirrors need E-type aprovement 13) non e type aprovement need validation procedure 14)seats need to be mounted on original seeting mounts 15)changing exhaust max same amount of decibels emissiontesting needs to be possible needs validation procedure 16) rollbar can not be welded. needs to be screwed.
17) front and rear wheels may not exceed size original vehicle came with. this means for the camaro min 215 tires. and max 245 tires.
front tires have to be the same width as rear tires unless originall equiped with these.
so no 245 front and 275 rear tires. ( unless on a corvette where this is standard )
what is forbidden 1) foil on front side windows 2)changing structure of the hood. 3) changing distance between engine and hood. 4) spoilers in aluminium carbon or wood 5)topchops 6) removing or disabling airbag ( guess what i did to get the firebird wheel on it ) 7)changin 3 point seatbelts with 2point 8) NOS 9) startbutton 10) changing the braking system 11) using wheelspacers 12) changing stabilizer bars 13) changing stabilizer bushings 14) changing diameter original exhaust muffler 15) changing transmission with other gear ratio's 16) enginetuning 17) using non-klappable frontseats in a car that has only 2 doors and has rearseats

its so exotic that when I go out to a private danceclub, they always put me next to the lambo's and the ferrari's and threat me as VIP.
Bikini Wash! haha Sick...your car looks mint, the whole Grey interior steering wheel/dash looks extremely clean, ive never seen a Grey steering wheel like that..
I was reading in Michael Lamm's Thirdgen Camaro book that all Camaros were supposed to have a black, light-absorbing dash to prevent glare on the extremely steep windshield. I've never seen a car without a black dashpad, dash, and console.
That gray looks REAL good though, even the door handles are gray! Neat!
Are these Europe only colors or are they just rare?

those are the first ones that come to mind.
Some of those are terrible! I like #11 though, could cut down on some *****s
Why the hell would you bolt a cage in...or leave the horrible factory brakes
Nice car though, if there isn't inspections and stuff you could swap in a v8 and all of that other fun stuff too

actually I think i'm gonna change my steering wheel to a billet 1 with a gray wrap around.

it was first a black dashboard. and underneath the grey paint there still is a black dashboard just. same goes for all the other interior stuff. you could do it yourself.
take out all the interior stuff ( even the carpet stuff) paint it the color that you want just like want it. make new seat covers for your car.
reinstall the whole thing.
do note that i do have reflections in my front window. so I advise while driving that you put a black towl over your dash.

I'm not gonna do that on this car.
this one is gonna stay a V6. maybe I will swap the interior in another camaro in the same color ( chassis aint to good on this 1 ) and it is an original GM-color( WA-L9540 ) + original GM stripes ( silver )
but the camaro I really want is a black 86-89 IROC with supercharged LS1 six speed.
on the outside 5 inch, 3 piece spoiler, taillight blackouts, headlightblackouts ( with double xenonlights behind every blackout. darkened parklights + sidemarkers. non fog lights grille. black stripped down interior.
18" iroc wheels also painted black.
what I actually want is making a camaro look like this.
( yes I know its a ford falcon xb )
but without the roofspoiler or the blower ( altough maybe )
the zoomie side exhaust would be the same. ( cost 350$ for exhausttips )
man, i LOVE your car. it's so perfect. my car is in the shop right now, it's being painted the same color. how'd you do those stripes? those are off the chain. idk if it would look good on mine though, it's not a t top lol.
small update,
car goes in the shop soon to get windshield rust fixed.
car gets a second hood ( irocZ ) ( Very rare over here )
this summer the car gets 17 inch TT2 rims.
Hey, I also have a camaro it's actually a 88 camaro, that is a biggg project car, beatin up pretty bad needs some lovin, it has no fog lamps.. i noticed that most 88 camaros do have fog lamps, so I'm wondering where mine are, right? well I noticed there are two spots for possible lights to connect to. I noticed you connected all 4 lights in together and run them at the same time?, how did you manage that.. mind sharing? I would like to get my headlights to go brighter, they don't seem very bright and hard to see at night.. also I have no foglamps, could you possibly help out?
Hey there, I have a 88 camaro.. It's quite a big project car.. and I could use any help possible.. I noticed that most camaros came with fog lights, mine weren't there. I saw you hooked up all your headlights to work at once, along with fog lights? Would you mind sharing how you did that? It's really hard to see at night time as my two low beams aren't very bright enough (It would be really nice if I could see the road instead of everyones lights), so I would love it if I could some fog lights going.. Mind helping me out? I like the Idea of getting them all hooked up together.. not sure how to do it though.
and these are the lamp housings, you need 4 of these. ( you have 2 versions, 1 is just H4, the other has an extra opening for a park light bulb in it ). doesn't matter wich 1 you take.
okay, this is the wiring diagram.
( note, some wirecolors may be diffirent)
I put the relay connection numbers on the wires.
what happens.
if you put power on the dimlight wire. relay 1 will be powered ( right down relay )
relay4 ( right up ) is not yet powered. so wire 87A on this relay wil be powered. and the dimlights on the outer lights will be powered.
part2:
if you put on your highbeams, you will power relay 3 and 4.
but since only relay1 still powered ( see part1 )
wire 87 on relay4 is now powered.
the outer dimlights will go out and the inner highbeams will be powered.
part3: if you put on your foglights ( foglightswitch ). and your dimlightswitch, and keep the highbeams are both out.
both 87A wires will be powered, so all 4 dimlights will be working.
part 4. if you now put on your highbeams, all dimlights will go out. but all 4 highbeams will come on.
to keep it simple.
if you put on the foglight switch, you put on 4 lights instead of 2.

I don't care how much you paid for it, can't care les if you pay 5$ or 500$ for it.
I only told him what lamps I used in my car.
btw, the lamps you pointed at are sealed beam ones ( so the your link says )
the ones I pointed out are H4 housings.
the good part of H4 housings is that if a light is broken you only have to change the bulb and not the whole housing.
BTW, if you do change the electrics of your lights, I used 2,5mm ( 0.1 inch ) wires all around. ( this way I have 0 loss on my headlights)
the link i posted is an H4 conversion...that's what the Hella Vision Plus are...H4 conversion housings. i was just posting the link so anyone else who viewed this thread didn't pay twice the price @ summit.

since I keep getting private messages about the interior.
here is the story again.
the interior was a custom job. it came out of a fully tuned ( belgium standards ) 84 firebird. it had a custom pearl green/ purple paintjob ( rear + hood bird was purple, other parts where limegreen ) the guy made the interior completely custom. my T-roof isn't made from carton , but its this plastic/leather lookalike vinyl. ( somekind of rubber ) the doors and seats had the same vinyl layer, put on carton boards. same goes for the seats.
al the black plastic has been painted grey. ( we did have to reuse my old dashboard and center console, since that of a firebird didnt fit) the from the middle console, we took of the cloth. bought a vinyl/leather piece and put it around he it. to make it feel softer, between the consele and the leather , we put a 1/5 inch of mouse ( the thing a matras is made of ) between it before we glued the leather on it.
the gauges themselves are made for a 91 camaro bynordskog and kosts about 500$. you can get it cheaper from summit. ( works really wel )
the center light + the ones in rearview mirror have white led bulbs in them.
underneath your dash you should normally have a little lamp for your ashtray. since this one doesnt gave any light at all. I took the little lamp out and used the housing to put a led in it . this way I get a red accent in my interior when I put my lights on.
I can not tell you how he did everything from the interior since. I don't know the guy who build the car. I bought the interior from the new owner of that car for $400. since he destroyed the car 3 months after he bought it for $20 000.
the original owner had changed everything on the car ( ZZ4 crate engine and stuff) but didnt change the rearend wich was still from a V6. he sold the car to the new owner without telling him about it. the rearend broke against 40mph and destroyed the rear of the car, there where interior pieces flying around everywhere.
after standing a year in his garage. he sold the car in parts. I got the interior.
if you have any more questions feel free to ask. but do know I cant answer everything.
do know that if I would have changed anything in that car. it would be the greyish dash. since this keeps reflecting in my window making it somtimes impossible for me to see outside.
Nice job on the car.the stripes look great on the hood too.
if only my car wasnt this rusty and the previous owner wouldn't have driven it on a 2 feet brick wall. ( it made the chassis 1 inch shorter on 1 side )
if I finally go working instead of going to school. I probably gonna make shure its straight again.
and else we start over with a new camaro. maybe an iroc or something.
go to your local electronic shop.
buy 4 leds + 4 resistors for an aplication of 15V. normally the shop will calculate this for you. else it is. ( 15V- voltage LED )/0,02A = resistor size for 1 led.
so if a white led uses 3V. its
(15-3)/0,02= 600 ohm resistor.
then solder the 4 leds + a resistor into a square form like I did. and put it in.
thats how I did it.
btw, that sigarete light under the dashboard. ( wich you can barelly see working )
I took te little lamp out. ( I crushed it in the process ) and put a 5mm bright red led + resistor in the lamp holder
this way if I put my lights on. the center of my dash gives a red glow over the radio + shifter
will try to make a picture of it 1 of the days
