Re: 91 camaro RS from belgium
the pic of google maps is from 3 years ago.
BUt thi summer my hood popped open against 70mph.
so a new hood + fenders are on the way and should be arriving any day now.
and thats the reason not to many people own an american car over here.
be honest, for the same money you can drive a mercedes or beemer witch has better support over here then an american car.
GM wants to bring a new cadillac to europe, but if that new caddy aint gonna be equiped with a 2L Diesel engine, nobody is gonna buy those in belgium. thats just the facts.

Re: 91 camaro RS from belgium
this happened this summer when to hood popped at 70mph
we are now rebuilding the car. starting with the engine.
it got a new cam, heads shaved 0.5mm. pacesetter headers will arrive next week. iroc intake, 34 en 23 mm swaybar
it gets a shiftkit installed.
after that it will go to the bodyshop for some allignement issues. where the car will get new fenders and a new irocZ hood.
also I probably gonna ask if they will paint the stripes instead of using stickers.

Looking over your thread and that is a great looking car. Sorry about the hood, that bites. Good luck with it, I'm sure you won't quit till it looks good again.

Re: 91 camaro RS from belgium
nope, I wont quit.
I installed a ( gm ) 34mm en 23mm swaybar
my sherman iroc hood and fenders finally arrived last month after waiting for 20 weeks. ( ordered them in september )
I installed the comp cams 262 cam kit + timing chain and gear and shaved the heads 0.5mm
I also polished the intake slightly.
engine also seems to be a 3.4 instead of a 3.1..
last I installed some pacesetter headers.
still need to put in the airpump delete pulley.
we are now busy with installing crank dampner
now we need to put the lifters back in and build up the intake + brackets. but it looks like im missing 2 bolts. ( those that hold the ac and steeringpump against the heads.
need to search for those again.
also done,calipers painted
arrived not yet installed, new airco condensor + dryer, ATP transmission shift kit, new parking brake shoes, transmission cooler.
I hope that by the end of the month we it can go to the painter/bodyshop.
car will be painted the same color of red, but the stripes wil become painted in an 86 silver. ( instead of stickers )
and the black eyelids will be a 91 black color.
frame will also get pulled straight ( I knew this for a couple of years, now want to do something about it.
and lastly, new uniroyal rainsport tires. ( our cars don't drive well in the rain so they need every little bit of help they can get.
plans for next year. new floorpans
BMR or Umi subframeconnectors. ( maybe a set of alstons 2 but only bolted in )
koni+eibacks+ founders strut mounts.
extra: torson differential if I find one.

Re: 91 camaro RS from belgium
and we just keep on building ( for got sake I hope I dont have an internal leak. I already found 2 seals that werre leaking ( waterpump seal ) and thermostat housing seal.
I took both of them back of and used some blue liquid gasket enhancer around the enitre area to make sure its really sealed ( it is now ).... ( did use fel-pro gaskets, so those should have been okay )
anyway, some new pics.

Re: 91 camaro RS from belgium
forgot to update this thread.
wel we got the engine together again and up and running.
we still need a wee little bit of tuning here and there.
it seems that we cant run the car on more then 8 degrees of base timing.
else the engine will bog when you try to start it with the ESC cable plugged in again.
here is a movie where we where checking some of the last funky problems.
for some reason I still got some engine knock when I rev it quickly behind eachother.
still to be installed on the car is bigger injectors and a flowmaster muffler ( scavenged it of a broken down camaro.)
also found myself some electric mirrors with the complete wiring for it.
but we are still waiting for the car to come back from the bodyshop. they straightened the frame now, and now they are cleaning the body for painting etc. this painting + framepulling will cost me 5K+ but when its done, its gonna be suweet.

Re: 91 camaro RS from belgium
so I finally got some updates from the bodyshop.
not that you can do everything done on a car x2 in price since all the parts need to be shipped from america to belgium. and everything here is almost double as expensive.

Re: 91 camaro RS from belgium
car looks great. the front turn signal can be polished out to make them look better. What i did was remove them held it in one hand and sanded it with 2000 grit wet sand paper until the light felt smooth took about 15 minutes for mine. then i took my buffing wheel with a wool pad and alittle polish not for lenses but for the body laid teh buffer on the floor held it with my foot pushed the button with my foot then with my hands ran the lenses against the buffer being carefull of heating it up to much and holding the part tight so it doesn't fly out of my hands. they now look brand new cost me nothing to do.

Re: 91 camaro RS from belgium
time to update this topic again.
since we needed to reweld the floorpans, and then give it the raammat treatment. it was also time to do the rest of the body.
I will let the pictures speak for themselves.
due to waterleaks we had to redo some of the interior.
so.
first up, the doors
we build a new cardboard from scratch and put the ensolite on the back of the panels.
