Need wisdom, opinions and just plain blasphemy!

How y'all think this looks? All input is welcome as long as there is reasoning behind it. ex: "I don't like that hood because it draws too much attention to the front." That's a good example. Alright; bring on the cheers and jeers.

i like it, i like the wheels with the "wing" center cap. only thing i dont like is the rear wing you got, id go with a 5" spoiler.

Re: Need wisdom, opinions and just plain blasphemy!

I like the concept, just would go with a SS hood or a regular cowl hood. IMO that hood should not be on any third gen. It's doesn't look right from the front nor the sides. A SS hood with the stripes would do the car much more justice.

Re: Need wisdom, opinions and just plain blasphemy!

That's funny, I don't think the SS hood should be on any third gen. I think it's too curvy. The 3rd gens have sharp angles and are aggressive and manly. No curves. Do you guys like the 3-tone paint? It's dark dark grey with two black stripes and a bit of a lighter grey for the pinstripes, if you couldn't tell. Is it too busy? I'm going for, "Oh that car is black" then they see the stripes, "Oh, that's not black, the stripes are black." and the pinstripes are there so that you notice the black stripes. Instead of just blending in and going unnoticed. I think with the paint and wing and everything going on, you need a hood with more to it. Instead of a pretty uneventful slab of metal up front. That's my reasoning. I'm getting it painted in March, so I just gotta make sure that that's the scheme I want.

Re: Need wisdom, opinions and just plain blasphemy!

The scheme looks killer. Try Hawks SS hood or something along the lines of a 3" cowl.

Re: Need wisdom, opinions and just plain blasphemy!

I would, but unfortunately I don't have the skillz. I'm just starting to learn CAD in skool so I had to hire a guy to do the model for me. I had him do this hood, and both the stock RS and Z28 hoods. He also did a few different wheels, and the RS spoiler pieces. I figured it would be worth it to pay for the model before I drop a bunch of money on a paint job.

Re: Need wisdom, opinions and just plain blasphemy!

I like everything but the hood. If you're not a fan of the SS, try a stock Iroc hood (Mr.IrocZ is putting together a fibreglass repro GP) ...or try a cowl. Glasstek is my fave. Basically a 69 cowl grafted to a 3rdgen hood.

...that Turbo Iroc hood can't decide if it needs vents, or a cowl, or louvers...looks like some sort of frankenstein mess iMHO.

Re: Need wisdom, opinions and just plain blasphemy!

Haha. That's actually a really good description of the hood. I still like it, though. Here's a pic with the stock IROC hood and then two more from the same angle with the two different hoods. I think it's too plain. I guess I just like a lot going on. At least, on these cars. How do you guys like the wheels? They are the American Racing Shelby Cobra wheels.

Oh, and btw, for attaching the louvers, does it work just as well to use an adhesive to attach them, or do I really need to get a set with all the studs intact?

Re: Need wisdom, opinions and just plain blasphemy!

I like the wheel choice. I'd be interested in seeing it actually on the car.

....as for the louvers, I have the rear (towards windshield) studs intact, but no front studs. I have a combination of a few tabs of 3M tape and silicone adhesive holding 'em on, and knock on wood, no trouble yet. Figure the front would be what would come up do to the wind, right?

....I'll use studs if I can ever find a good set, but in the meantime, it works.

What do you mean? Like different color schemes? Would I keep the three tone theme or what?

On another note, my car is finally done getting painted.

Re: Need wisdom, opinions and just plain blasphemy!

its a beautiful design but im honestly not to fond of the hood.

reasoning behind that is it takes away from the original body design.

i have a hard time seeing a raised hood other than a small cowl or a ss styled hood on these camaros.

they look good from a frontal view ,but look trashy from a side view imo. the original body lines are very distinct and follow a certain pattern and that clashes with the original.

the idea is to compliment the original design not to modify 1 side of it and expect it to match (no offense meant at all). it looks good though don't get me wrong .

im not violently opposed to it dont get me wrong, i just think it clashes with the original body design.

That looks sick. Now you just need to grab some rims!

Re: Need wisdom, opinions and just plain blasphemy!

Thanks guys. Yeah the hood is known to get mixed reviews no matter what car it's on. I like it and actually think it fits with the body lines better than the ss hood does. It's still pretty boxy, compared to the ss hood. I also like the fact that it beefs up the front and think that it balances the car out when having the wing on there.

I got my eyes set on some 17" AR Cobra 427 wheels. Same as what's in the 3D renders above. Not sure what I'd do about paint on them, though.

Anywho, I just noticed today that the stripes or off center in the back. D'oh! I'm gonna call the paint place and see what they can do. I expect a free repaint of the roof/rear quarters, rear bumper and liftgate/wing. We shall see.

I've been working on putting the interior back together and have to take the steering lock out for my pushbutton starter. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/elec...ter-build.html

Just thought I'd throw that in there.

I think that looks sweet. The hood, spoiler and paint seem to go really well together if you ask me. Just needs some chrome IROC rims to go with it
