need some ideas about rims
ok, so now that the car is painted i am not super crazy about my wheels. i like them but i think it is now lacking some shine. what wheels do you all think would look the best? i will be waiting a while before i actually get some. but you all's input would be great.

i like the rims you have now, why don't you just polish or chrome them?

Re: need some ideas about rims
i thought about polishing just the lip, or the whole wheel. but to have them chromed would cost min. 500 and why not put that towards chrome? would chrome look best/polished/painted? i keep going back and forth on the black rim idea. too many out there i think.

i like the wheels, you got, but what are you into? the wheels that are flush with the tires? or some wheels with less backspace? i like deep dish style wheels. id say some corvette wheels would look nice on that car. and i love your car color and everything, but one thing that REALLY catches my eye is that you need to buy some 99 cent paint and paint your wheel wells black. just tryin to help

I like the look of the C6 wheels on third gens... IMO I think with that nice paint job it would look great.

i prefer the dish to the flat look on the tires.
i vote for new rims to go with that nice new paint job.

Any wheel with an outer lip is preferable over a FWD-looking/style C3+ Vette or 4th gen F-body wheel, IMHO.

Now that depends on your budget...but whatever you do go with chrome or a polished rim...not black, it wouldn't suit the car!

I agree that the bright red would look better with some chrome or billet wheels. What is your budget for wheels?

Re: need some ideas about rims
i just notices you have pre 91 rear spoiler but post 90 front ground effects. well done. i had a 90 - which i bought for my wife and i kept it because i liked the spoiler. i also had a 91 and that was the front ground effect - the side was also a little different.
but nice paint job - just clean up those wheel wells.

That explains the rear spoiler, side fx as the "old" style, but the newer nose (with fx) on the car.

Some people like the "flash", some don't. I have tubular stuff underneath, but my stuff is black, not the powdercoated red some people go with.

Re: need some ideas about rims
Probably waaaaaaayyyyyyyy outta yer budget but damn save up for these...
They would play off of your hood well..and you can get them in all chrome or black or charcoal powdercoated centers.
I dont know about putting a all chrome wheel on your car.Its already got a lot going on.The bright red paint is your "bling", putting some nice darker wheels with a touch of chrome would work best.

Re: need some ideas about rims
where are those from? never seen them before. i was actually leaning towards some boze rims, that way i can go 18 with proper back spacing. at least a 18x10 for the rear. but again, they are pretty expensive but once you buy a really nice set of rims, no need for ever changing again.

Re: need some ideas about rims
what about adding c5 brakes or any larger brake upgrade with some red painted calibers to match the car, the rotor size and matching caliber would draw attention back to the rims. i did an ls1 set up with my 18" c6 rims and both the rims and calibers draw most the attention(away from the faded, dented paint job lol)

Re: need some ideas about rims
i thought he went with ppg wild fire red, but he ended up with ppg bright red.
part of the list of things to come are brakes. looking at getting something from ebmiller. probably at least 13" in rotors. i do not exactly know when. and yes, i will paint the wheel wells plus touch up the eng bay and undercarriage. i am going to polish up the driveshaft again and wet sand the exhaust to see if it will shine.

Re: need some ideas about rims
i actually have always contemplated rims in that style. i know a guy on here, hawaiian, has them. i looked on ebay for some sets. but they all are requiring me to keep the spacers. don't think i want to do that. i will check those out some and get the details(fit/price), thanks.

Re: need some ideas about rims
You can get wheels from here that don't need spacers...a little pricey but you get for what you pay for, this is where I got mine and see no spacers, talk to Zack or Larry they are great guy's and they will treat you right!
