So I ended up buying two new tires through America's Tire Co. First I tried ordering through their website and price matching
onlinetires.com but I got an email back saying that they wouldn't price match them but would make me a offer at $145 per tire. So I went to the store in person and they price matched the online source without a problem.
I also received my
wheel adapters yesterday, so you know what that means. I installed my SS wheels. It definitely didn't go as planned though. Apparently the center bore of the adapters were a few thousandths too small. I ended up using a Dremel, some grinding stone bits, a can of WD-40 and a few hours of my time to grind them down enough to squeeze them on, not something I'd want to do again. I wish there was a easier way.
Another problem I ran into occurred when I aired up my rear tires. I now know why I got these wheels so cheap. the right rear wheel wouldn't hold air. The inside lip was bent a little bit but enough to have a substantial air leak. after much of this

, I broke out the sledge hammer and rubber mallet. After about 2 hours of continuous beating it now hold air at the recommended 34psi. If it ever starts leaking again I'll bring out the propane torch to heat it up slightly and have at it again so I'm crossing my fingers on this one.
So the front tires are now perfectly flush with the fenders. They only fit because of the negative camber that was a byproduct of the
lowering (Ground Control weight jacks) I did. I had to take my fender liners out or else my tires would be sitting on them. Taking them out gave me more clearance to have vertical travel. I'm going to cut a portion of the old liner and place it back inside the well to prevent debris and water from traveling back towards the door hinges and possibly into the drivers compartment. I also
definitely need to roll my fenders. I have less that a 1/4" before they rub on bums. The only place I noticed any rubbing turning lock to lock is on the battery tray. This is probably because I have taller than stock tires. I'll just give it the old BFH mod and call it good. The rears have no rubbing or clearance problems whatsoever so I have no work to do back there.
I have a hard time comprehending and calculating offset and such so does anyone know what offset and backspacing I effectively have now with the spacers? This setup is
perfect in my eyes and would like to know what it equates to for future reference.
All in all I am extremely happy. Especially since everyone doubted that 285/40/17's would fit up front. I'm here to say they can.
