My new project! VIN/RPO question

Hey guys, I just recently got rid of my 2 '92 RS camaros and purchased an '89 IROC which is exact yr i was looking for. I wanted a 5 speed, 350 hardtop but endedup with a 5 speed, hardtop 305 TPI, but I am very pleased. I got a pretty good deal on the car to which is even more exciting. I have a question about the VIN though. I am struggling finding out what the vin codes are. I have tried many websites and no luck so I was wondering if you guys could help me. But now for some pics, threads are boring without them lol. VIN # is 1G1FP21F6KL197965.

I am guessing that it came from Hawaii? If so then it traveled a long way to Kentucky.

http://www.pnw3.org/vindecoder/tgovindecoder.php

That will decode your vin for you.

The reason you had to settled on a 305 5-speed was that GM didn't make any 350 5-speeds.

Yea, actually the seats are corbeau racing seats which I don't like at all in this car. I want to put it back to stock as if it came off assebly line with minor engine mods.

the sticker was on it before I got it and I prolly will take it off along with the others to achieve the brand new look lol.

Thanks for your comment.

And I have drove the snot out of it with no major problems. Still yet the engine will prolly have to be gone through, just so I feel a lil better.

Re: My new project! VIN question

Nice! It looks like it's similar condition to mine. Except mine is carbureted, t-top, 1985 z28. And I paid $1000 more than you.

Have fun with it.

Where abouts in KY are you? I have some stock 1991 seats I could trade you for those seats you don't want. I live in middle TN so shouldn't be too far.

Good score man, I know I had to hunt high and low over Craigslist and eBay before I found my 305 5 speed, hard top. The deal with the 350 is, supposedly the T-5 can't hold the torque of the 350, so the 305 is all you could get in front of that trans.

Re: My new project! VIN question

I would agree that it probably is from Hawaii. (See attachment -sorry about the night pic. lol) If you can get someone to run a carfax you may find out where it's been as I did on mine.

Did you check to see if it has the G92 RPO code or anything like that?

Re: My new project! VIN question

Cool deal man, I would love to see a few shots of them, and the condition of the fabric really isn't too much concern, I intend on recovering them with light tan leather.

Thanks!

They should be in the middle console glove box between the seats.

Didn't want to muddy up your thread here with pics of my stuff so here's the link to the pictures of the seats. No rips, just a coupel worn spots on the drivers side, they really need to be cleaned though! LOL http://picasaweb.google.com/scarabgreen/Seats?feat=directlink

Looking at the codes, it is a well performance optioned car. G80 (posi), KC4 (oil cooler), G92 (performance rear axle), FE2 (highest level suspension), J65 (rear disks), N10 (dual cats I believe)

I didn't know the 89's came with those seats, good luck in your search man, and $1300, you stole that car with the options it has!
