Hopefully I got everything under that damn dash done, LOL! Installed electronic pedal mounting plate and pedal... also mounted Direct Link connector for PCM, reverse lockout, reverse lights, break pedal switch, PCM ignition wire, reinstalled master clutch.

Re: StansFBM Build Thread, extension of TBRays98 Build

Starting to look like an interior again! Stick shifter installed, boot, manual shift plate, and mocked up steering wheel ... I plan on doing interior restoration next, but this fine for now.

Re: StansFBM Build Thread, extension of TBRays98 Build

Well, I have to send the Racetronix pump and harness back because I ordered the wrong year. That will set this back a week or so. So I started to work on all the finer details...Installed and routed alternator cable, heat wrapped some wires around headers and starter, installed ARP starter bolts, also tie wrapped wires around O2 sensors and wrapped a couple around starter to pull starter wires further away from the heat. Finally bolted torque arm, but the damn bolts ruined threads because the mounting holes were too small...more modifications

Alternator cable bolted on

Trying to figure out where to route alternator cable...right now I have it going on radiator support mount

nice shot of clearance

wires all secured...O2 harness

Used some thermo wrap around starter wires

Ran a couple zip ties to pull in wires even further away from pipes...may change to some stainless wire

Belt and hoses on! Check! Used 4th gen radiator hoses and had to make a couple of trips back to auto parts store for the right belt.

Re: StansFBM Build Thread, extension of TBRays98 Build

for removing and installing the engine, did you leave the car in place on the jack stands and use the engine hoist to raise the engine/tranny or did you do something different? I couldn't tell.

I used the engine hoist to get the car high enough, then once the engine was out/in put it back on stands. The hoist chain was bolted to the wonder bar mounts (it's pretty light without engine). I really like this approach and I was super careful not to be under car while just on hoist.

Air intake from 5th gen mod - I decided to cut off the stock air box off the 5th gen air intake and bought a K&N cone filter. I also acquired the coupling and clamps to the throttle body. I’ll probably add another piece to extend the filter further towards radiator, but this will get me started. I have about $55.00 in the intake!!

Re: StansFBM Build Thread, extension of TBRays98 Build

Cleaned 4th gen tank - you could eat Totina’s pizza rolls off the inside! Also installed 0-90 ohm fuel sending unit to properly operate fuel gauge. Tested sending unit for 90 ohms with full float position. The Herko 0-90 ebay sending unit snaps on the fuel bucket a little different (because it's raised more) and the clip cannot be used. Also, that wiring harness is useless and the connector will not work on 4th gen fuel pump- since I'm upgrading later to Racetronix with Hotwire Kit, this is a non-issue for me. The Racetronix is on back order - so I'll need to put that in once I get it.

Clean!

sending unit in, the click fits kind of funky, but it's secure - this gives us the 0-90 ohm compatible with stock fuel gauge

Measure ohm at empty tank - 0 ohms

moving the fuel float to full gets the 90 ohms - we are good!!

Dropped existing 3rd gen tank

4th gen tank is ready to go in - snapped 4th gen lines and harness.

A view into the fuel door - the hose was cut around 2"

After a few trimming, it sits in there nicely.

4th Gen tank is secured.

Re: StansFBM Build Thread, extension of TBRays98 Build

Curious, is the fuel filler neck bolted to something or held down at all?

Yes, it has a small bracket - once the hose was shortened, it was a perfect place to put a screw on inside body next to the tank.

I'll snap one when I pull it to put the Racetronix pump/wiring in. I do have this photo that shows the bracket - I mounted it in that area to give you an idea.

Not mounted but in this general area

The bracket flipped to other side - just giving you a better pic of what bracket looks like.

That plastic tank WAS clean inside, wasn't it.

A gaggle of lines, tubes, vents, hoses...not to mention wires. I'm sure I'd screw something up!

Re: StansFBM Build Thread, extension of TBRays98 Build

Wired up the fuel tank last night. Ran a dedicated fuel feed sender wire that will eventually be the trigger for the Racetronix relay (still waiting on that to be shipped ). Also, I bought a 4th gen Body-side 8-way connector and wired that to the stock third gen connector. Turned on the key and pump is on!!! Tonight I’ll plumb the return line and maybe fire it up!

I think it's awesome that you integrated the original cluster into your build!
