Re: Dipped 90 iroc

I did 3 gallons black. 2 gallons pearl with tri mix of flake. 2 gallons clear. Using the basic sprayer. The ash from the wild fires kind of tarnished the glossiness.

Re: Dipped 90 iroc

Thats the "small car" kit. So that was enough for the whole car. Im thinking of going with a matte finish.

3 gallons of base is good, check out "dipyourcar community" on facebook. Lots of info and ideas on there. I also used 3 cans of black to hit the edges and and hard to spray areas before the gallons went on.

Re: Dipped 90 iroc

Well, the dip did not age well. I did a few minor updates on the car. Billet handles, emblems, camarolouvers.com louvers, tails, leds, etc. On a side note, I did all the sheet metal on the building in the background.

Question - did the car live outside? In a garage? Outside under a cover?

Just curious.

New products constantly coming in. Full gloss peelable coatings. Color shifting pearls and holographic flakes. Candy finishes.

About 6 years and 600 videos on you tube, where they experiment with a new project each week. Fun, creative stuff! I've been watching them for a couple of years.

Re: Dipped 90 iroc

How hard is plastidip to remove, long after the application? Meaning if you dipped your whole car like the OP, or even a nice set of wheels, kept it for a few years, and then needed to remove.

100% outside started covering within a year but it was already too late. So cal fires in the first month really did it in. This is the 50 state blend, I'm sure it's weaker.

Learned from the mastermind himself. Think I'm going to paint the grids to break it up.

There's areas that are peeling from wear, I don't think it will be tough to peel. They key is an adequate amount of base coats. Clear does not add to "peelablity." Going a different route this summer so I'll know for sure.
