My 83 T/A
I had my car at a local show last month, and thought these pictures of it, there, looked pretty good.
I hope you guys like them, too.
I'm still here Alex!! LOL!

Re: My 83 T/A
Now that's quite a compliment, Thanks!!
"I'm not worthy"....
The stripes went on sometime last summer (2006).
This is what is looks like without the blackouts, and to be honest, it just doesn't look right, to me.

Very nice car! I think black center GTA wheels would really make it stand out but thats just my opinion and not criticizing whats on it now .... great looking car though. I should detail mine real good again and take it to one of the TGO gatherings someday

the black outs give it a real sleek look...pontiac shouldve done it that way from the factory! the car has a real classic look, thanks for the extra pictures.

Tinindian, thanx for posting that. you just added even more fuel to my fire on getting my 83 HT T-5 T/A back on the road. i just aquired a set of dark charchol met GTA wheels. those will go well with my med sand gray orig paint.
one is a rendition that Devian did and pretty much what it will look like final and the oher is obviously my T/A currently. looks worse than it actually is.

I love the look of your ride. Of course I'm biased.
I would like to get my formula rims to look as good as your's someday.
I like your other post about the paint job you did on it. Reminded me of when I had mine painted.

Where did you get the stripes? I've looked for the original style stripe kit for my 1982 but nobody has them. All I've ever come across is rolls of stripes that didn't even come close to looking like what was originally on the car. The factory stripes were about a 2 inches wide with a gold background and black stripes.
I saw you mentioned you got stripes, I assume on the red/black cars the tape would have been black background with red stripes is this what you found for yours or just a roll of like 5 individual black stripes?

And they were the individual stripes, and not like the OEM.
I remember using them in the past, and you're right, they were black with red stripes.
But these new one look just like them, after they go on.
Thanks,

I've always loved seeing pics of your car, Because A) it is a VERY nice 3rd Gen, and B) my first car was an 83 T/A.
By The Way, I am happy to see that you decided not to put the Aero Ground Effects on.

Re: My 83 T/A
AWESOME T/A!!! i have an 83 bird and i wish it looked that good. it looks brand friggin new. the blackouts give it a sleeker look.
question: do you have to remove the headlight trim in order to have the lights go up with the blackouts on? i was looking in to getting a pair and was curious. also, where did you get them and what brand and how did you attach them to the car
p.s. let me know if you're going to any big shows in the NY/NJ area cuz i'd LOVE to see the car in person

Look closely, and you can see they are cutout, special, to give enough clearance for the headlight to rotate.
And like I have said before, it's been over 20 years ago that I bought them, and I don't remember the brand, how much they were, or where exactly I bought them, sorry.
They attach to an angled piece of aluminium, shaped to allow them the correct angle, with a nylon/velcro style connection. This is them held to the car with 3M two-sided, body molding tape.
I have tested them up too 100mph, and they DO stay on very well.
Sorry, but I have no plans yet, to make it out your way, but it would be a nice road trip.
Thanks,
Leon

The car is looking good Leon...
For those who want to know...it looks even better in person (and I think you could eat off of that engine...but I dont think Leon would like that...)
Are you going to the T/A nats this year?

Yup Leon's definitely got the sleekest, beautiful, and downright awesome 3rd gen ever. And if I remember correctly, its as fast as it is beautiful.
dont ever let that baby out of your hands Leon, nobody else would do her justice the way you have.
p.s. that gauge mod you told me about is almost done and on its way back to me, thanks again. Someday hopefully my TA will be as georgous as yours.

Re: My 83 T/A
I tell ya, it is always so cool to see pictures of my car take by other people, because I am seeing from "your" viewpoint!
That picture turned out great, thanks!
And thanks to you, Frank!
You're going to love the new speedo.
It's just what these cars should have had, from new.
And Dan, sorry, but the T/A Nats will have to wait.
I don't plan on going again until I have remodded my 79.
The 83 just didn't get any respect out there, like the 2nd gens do.

Re: My 83 T/A
The more I see of these cars online here all refurbished and decked out pretty, the less inclined I am to sell my original 1982 TA that has been sitting in the garage these past 14 years. Maybe I should be looking into refurbishing the old girl myself and enjoying the car the way I used to. Went through a divorce way back when and just couldn't afford to maintain the car on my income, so parked it at my parents in their garage and it's been there almost undriven ever since. It will run, but it's rough from sitting for all these years and it still looks great, not pristine, but pretty darn good. Now I see it as either a project for someone else who loves to do these things or as therapy for myself if I choose to spend the money, learn what's needed and renew the car to it's former glory. I love those T-top Trans Ams. I always thought that they were the best looking cars ever designed, looking like they were flying even when they are sitting still. And your red car is just gorgeous. Good job!

Re: My 83 T/A
looks like one of the pre-owners crashed your 82-84 nose. the one you have is the firebird & formula front bumper used 85-90, iirc. same goes for your fender, it does not have the T/A fender vents, at least the driver's side. looks more like a formula 85-90 to me, especially with those rims on. did you check vin / rpo?

yes vin checks out with 1983 trans am there is some bumper suport damage and it was repainted so the fenders and bumper are probably from an 85-90 formula..... hmm......my cars a freak
- also those are same wheels as the 1983 ta at the top... just painted
