bandit 2

Hey everyone, im new to the forum's and the site but figuer its a good place to ask my?

I'm looking to buy a 1991 firebird and its supposed to be a choo choo bandit 2, i went to look at the car this past weekend, its in great shape no dings nice looking paint the interior is also in really good shape.

it has 132k on it. it dose have the # plate saying its #88 out of 600
all the car is really missing is the hood bird and the bandit 2 brands on the doors.. so here is the big ? is there anything i can look for to tell if this is a real bandit 2 this is what i know it has the # plate has the body kit and the head rest have a ccc embroyded on them not the bandit 2 like i see on most of the bandit 2's.
my biggest issue with the car is someone decided to try and paint the trim in the car gold .....around the speedo clusters and the shifting console ..
i also now from some reserch that they did come in gold and wood trim thats whats kinda got me wondering if its a lagit bandit 2 oh!! he's asking 3200$ for the car is it worth this thanks to all in advance..

Thanx for the reply i guess from what others have said its not a bad deal so im guessing i should get the car. i have always liked the 3rd gen f-bodys sence i was a kid still think they are the best looking car's ever put on the road....so be glad to own one.. im not very informed on them as "i guess you could tell" but very happy to learn i have a buddy that wants to come to the thirdgen fest this comming spring so i might go with him and bring the car..he has a 91 z28 he's going to bring up there.. and thanx again for the reply was starting to think it was a bad offer or im just to much of a noob..

Re: bandit 2

Check out http://www.phoenixgraphix.com/ for the hoodbird. I'm assuming you're referring to the standard 3rd gen hoodbird, as shown here: http://www.phoenixgraphix.com/transam/8586ta.htm

They also make a custom hood graphic that's a shrunk down version of the '78-'81 style hood bird, found here: http://www.phoenixgraphix.com/transam/7981ta-99.htm

Hope that helps. Not certain what birds the Bandit IIs came with on the hood, but these are the only two I know of for thirdgen cars. Of course, there's always Ebay, but you get what you pay for with these decals. Remember, this item will see a lot of weather exposure, might as well go with something quality and only do it once.

I would not recommend clearcoating over the bird. I used to deal a bit with 2nd Gens, and I remember that being quite a big no-no. Somebody else correct me if I'm wrong.

yes, Do not clear coat the bird, it apparently causes it to crack. which Isn't very good.

Re: bandit 2

Looks good. I love those cars. I haven't seen very many of them. Some guy here at home just bought a green one. I don't think he knows what he has, because it doesn't look like he is taking very good care of it.

I've never seen one like that before, but it looks really good! After seeing some of the other weird conversion cars, I wasn't figuring it would be very attractive, but I like this one. Keep us posted on the progress!

Re: bandit 2

Hi

Welcome to the Bandit II club. I picked mine up last year, and its in nice shape as well. It will need a few things to bring it up to the place I want, but I have time. When my son is out of school this summer, it should be done. You can see it here
