Aftermaket Alternators?

Sharky's old stock alternator is getting ready to go to heaven. Does anybody have any suggestions on what I should replace it with? I was thinking a chrome one might look pretty.

Yep there are a few places to get them but unless you have a huge system in your car or something else that is drawing massive amounts of power the stock one is more then adaquate for our cars. Depending on the year and what not they can be anywhere from like 95-145 amps. You'll be luckly to pull 50 in a stcok application. FYI Stinger (you can probably find out more in the car audio section about them) and powermaster both make alt.

I bought a kit from Summit to rebuild my alternator to 140 amp spec. Was like 49.00. Super easy to rebuild too, took maybe 20 minutes. I'd go that route before dropping 250 on a new HO alternator.

As it turned out my alternator was fine. After a lot of trouble shooting it turned out to be a bad wire from my battery to the starter.

Best investment is a gold series from Autozone. Lifetime replacement 4 free!
About 14 months went by since I bought the alternator and my serpentine belt snapped (not because of the alternator). Some of the debris got in the alternator and messed it up. Autozone gave me a new 1 no questions asked. I didn't even need 2 have the reciept because I was still in their computer. I thought that was very cool!
