Welcome to TGO and welcome to the midwest boards! Your GTA was one of the top optioned cars, and depending on its condition and if its original, could be one heck of a neat "survivor."
The GTA is gonna share a ton of features, parts and problems with most of the other camaro's and firebirds of its time period. Details on the specific engines and specific options of the car would help with pointers.
I'd love to see pics of it... sounds like you robbed the guy if its that nice!

hi and thank you .. the car is in killer good shape even underneath .. the only things thats been done to it is headers and cam with new rollers. new msd distributor and coil and a shift kit in the trans ..other then that its all stock even down to the am fm cassette player lol i will deff get pics tomarrow of it and post for you guy its bright red with tan inside
One thing to take a look at is the floor pan. 20 years in the midwest turns these things to putty. Get a good look under there and poke around, hopefully its been garage kept all its life. My floor is more patches than floor at this point I think, lol!

lol na mine is nice it never seen rain or winter the pans are solid .. a few days after i bought the car i took it to my father in laws auto shop to put it on a lift to make sure because thats the one thing i have allways heard is to watch the undernith of these things they go bad fast
THAT is a $1,000 car????? My god you robbed someone! Heck of a steal man, heck of a steal. Keep it just like it is and don't touch a thing. Most 3rd gens in that range barely run and have body damage. That is crazy!

Welcome, I am in Morris and moving soon back to Marseilles. One h*ll of a good deal on that GTA. I would like to get an 87/88 GTA to add to my 91 RS I have. If you need any help let me know!
That car is complete junk... you should just sell it to me $1001 (see you'll make money) so you don't have to deal with all the issues common with these cars. One such issue has to do with the TPI motor... I don't want you to hurt your neck from the torque. Another is with the aerodynamics... I don't want you to risk hurting yourself when you set new top speed records. Look man, I'm only looking out for you. I care about fellow third gen owners and don't want to see anything "bad" to happen to them.
Welcome aboard! Let the madness begin!!
Mike
