I was not sure where to post this. I have been a member of the site but never really a poster. I have gathered a vast amount of information about my 1992 Camaro and I am slowly working on it to bring it back to it's glory days.
But this post is mainly about my Grandmother who passed away on Friday Aug 27th 2010. She was the reason I fell in love with this specific model of the Camaro.
It all starts back in the summer of 1992 my Grandmother who was 65 was looking for a new car. My father had taken me along with I was 16 at the time. I am from Iowa so we were at Mills Chevrolet in IL. I pointed the Camaro out to my Grandmother and she was hooked. Now in 1992 all the dealers were jacking the price up because Chevy was changing the Camaro so much in 1993 and the 1992 was an anniversary edition. She ended up buying her car from Bob Erickson's for $16,000 and some change. It was the only dealer in town that would deal at the time.
Over the course of the years that she owned it I took care of it with my father, general maintenance type things. I loved working on it because every time I would work on it I would get to drive it. At 16 getting to drive a brand new Camaro was just awesome! She finally sold the car in 2000 because she could no longer push the brake pedal down to get the car to stop and it was just too big for her. She had to sit on a pillow to see over the steering wheel. I was in college at the time and could not afford to buy it from her. She got $10,000 for the Camaro because it only had 15,000 miles on it.
Fast forward to 2005 I was finally able to get one of my own. I have been working on it since then. I had the chance to go to a Thirdgen.org gathering in Joliet. It was a fun time and just haven't had a chance to go back.
My Grandmother and former Thirdgen owner will be laid to rest on Sept 1st, 2010 at 1PM. If your out in your Thirdgen at the time just have a moment of silence for a great Mother and Grandmother.
I have attached the only picture of her in her 1992 Camaro RS hardtop.

Re: ThirdGen Fan
Very touching post. That's a great picture of your Grandmother!
What part of Iowa? I was born in Ottumwa many, many years ago.
