Calling all New York Metro Area Thirdgen Owners
Id be curious to see a show of 'hands' of the NY Metro people in here. This includes, let's see... starting from North West to South East.
Rockland County, NY
Westchester County, NY
Bergen County, NJ
The Bronx, NY
Manhattan, NY
Staten Island, NY
Queens, NY
Brooklyn, NY
Nassau County, NY
I know i left some out, my geography is not that good. All you people from South Eastern Connecticut i guess count here also. Hell, even Eastern LI (Suffolk County) please post here.

I built my car for the Hawk's Nest. That road is addictive and up there is plenty of long straights to go flat out on,many a race I've had on those roads.Hey GTA400SBC,give me some details I may know ya?!And TTA850,let me know if you ever come back up this way, always cool to meet fellow third gen fans.

Hey Fred, nice to meet you-what color is your car?Just wondering cause I know there are not too many 91-92's around and I ran into a red 91 one a short while back on 18th ave in a gas station-just wondering if it was you, unfortunatly I was driving my silver C280 so I doubt you'd remember even if that was you

Nah, that red one wasn't me. Mine is a Gunmetal Grey hardtop. I live in the Flatbush Midwood area. I think I talked to you a while back about swapping a TTA engine into my car. However, even though it's a good idea, I've decided to go with a 383... so I can keep the original block in there. Hey, I'd really love to check out your cars some time. I'm at Stony Brook Univ. during the week. Saw a TTA around here, but it was in really sad condition. I really felt like yelling at the owner.. till I found out he was a professor of mine... LOL.

Suffolk County here.
Hey fred91....you go to Stony Brook? What do you think of it? What are you majoring in? I am looking into them for engineering...trying to decide between them, Polytech, and NYIT. Let me know.

Hey Jim.... Stony Brook is a pretty good school. Been here for 3 semesters and am not thinking about transferring. It's engineering programs are really good, especially for computers. It's also the most diverse univ. outside of NYC that I know. I'm double majoring in Math and Physics. Going for an Air Force Officer's commission, and hopefully becoming a pilot. It'd be great to have another F-Body brother out here. Many Rice Boys and Mustangs running around and I'm getting tired of being the only one spanking them... LOL :lala:

It's just outside of Port Jervis-running along the Delaware river if I'm not mistaken. My parents have a house about 20-30min from there in Mount Hope, just so you didn't mistake me and thought I ment it was 20min from my house in Brooklyn
Convert, sounds good-whenever you get a chance I'm game.Just wish I had a 3rd gen to take(forgot that my cars are off the road for the winter when I wrote the last post)

It is right outside of Port Jervis, maybe 2-3 minutes tops. You go through Port on Rte 97 and follow that straight out of Port and you run right into the Hawk's Nest. The Eagle's Nest I beleive is by Blooomingburg on a back road, not too sure.I have been on it,but has been awhile.

EDIT: Nevermind, my connection sucks.
EDIT AGAIN: Does that board have a domain name instead of me trying to remember the IP?

Hey Steve
Hey Steve, do you still work for that body shop that you mentioned when you got into that accident with your red GTA? Where's it at and how's the work and pricing? I'd like to go over to them and get an estimate. Need to have a Ram Air hood painted, and need to unbend my fender and passenger side goor ground effects. Thanks.

Eddie whats up,havent heard from you in a while.Drop me an email sometime if you want
Fred and Convert,no I don't work there anymore-actually it's been quite a while scince I've worked there cause my GTA has been off the road scince 1998
The shop was Public Service Collision on E14 st between Ave L and M,good work and fair prices(as long as they are not too busy).Only thing is they have scince lost one of their best paint guys-(he did the nose of my car-like glass)-and I want to see if he opened his own shop or not,if he did I'm probrobly gonna go to him to repaint my GTA when it's done.
As for the website-I don't know I just saved it to favorites.Might try askin eightt5ta.From what I understand he is looking at getting a T1 line and the domain NYThirdgen.org but wants us to try and spread the word on the site first and see how people respond.

Vin-yeah the motor was gone.$2700 though was a good deal considering what it come with.
WS6Formula350-no kit for the turbo, actually not even a V8 anymore.I was so impressed with the fact that I got my bone stock 23K mile TTA to go from stock low 13's to 11.9@113 that I had to have a racecar with the Turbo V6 in it.
Actually I found you could swap in a 3.8L SFI Turbo into an F-car easier and cheaper than a typical supercharger kit-and for the most part the 3.8 will be faster,11.7@116 and 175mph top speed is typical of a TTA with stock parts and a good tune up

This will make 3 from the Middletown area in Orange Co.
I live out in the Slate Hill area. I agree with the other 2 from here that the Hawks Nest is one of my favorite places to run my Formula. Another good road is Rt. 17a going from Warwick to Tuxedo. 2 mountains to go over and lots of turns. One more would be what I and my coworkers call the goat trail which is the road that goes from the Bear Mountain Bridge to Rt. 9a, also has alot of twists. These other roads I mention are good for putting your car through its paces but not anywhere near as scenic as the Hawks Nest. Does anyone hang out at Bradlees on Friday nights in the summer?

Sure-the motor is complete now with harness and tranny but I'm still waiting for my replacement tubular k-member to get it back in the car(old one hit the tie rods )but here is one of the motor when I was trial fitting it:
And here one after I pulled it back out to put the headers, turbo, and everything else on it before putting it back in:
I'll have some of the complete job once the k-member comes, should be soon it was shipped a day or two ago.

Bald Hill-nah a bit too far for us(meaning the turbobuicks I hang with)most of use are in the Nassau,Queens,or Brooklyn area so Bellmore it is for us.
As for racing-a few times I went out to watch cause I didn't have a running car but they went out to Ocean Parkway just inside of Jones Beach-nice straight road,no traffic

But yea i've been out to bellmore i heard that the big boys race at some factory parking lot. I know where to go to in Deer park to see the big boys that lay down some serious dough (couple of grand) but not the right time of year as we all. I have a stock formula expect for exhaust i just love to watch ttil i do my motor.
I've been through Jones Beach too but i've just seen a bunch of cops the few times at night i've been down there....maybe wrong nights but i wasn't looking races either

What up, everyone. I'm from Westchester. I'll meet you guys anywhere. On thursday nights there's a big turn out at the Nathans near me in Yonkers, but the cops are major B busters. Other than that it's cool. Huge *** parking lot, a few third gen's are usually there along with some other cool stuff. Plenty of ricers to laugh at Nothing much happening this time of year, but by mid summer there are tons of people there. L8her
