took a few pics
Went for a cruise with some friends the other night and got around to taking a few misc. pics of the new ride. I haven't really been able to clean it up real good yet, but it still looks nice in the pics.
well I know you guys are diehard thirdgen fans and probably don't care much for it but I like it, and I think it will be a fun to car to have, its been a blast so far. But I still like thirdgens, I still own mine atm.

I was going to take it to the track on wed, but I am not sure if they will let me run with my exhuast setup, i might have to have something done to it to quiet it down. And I don't really have a helmet. i have a motorx helmet, but I don't know if that would work.

Looks great.... You got to keep the thirdgen and swap over the LS1 to it.

you should be fine with your exhaust setup i had jet hot longtubes mufflex y pipe and no cats with a dynomax bullet dumped and they let me run. Ohh and i had a cam so my car was a little louder than your probibly.

I'm starting to feel outnumbered by LS1/2's on here.
LSX's:
Travis
Tony
Robby
Harjeet
Will
Kyle
??
Ramair21 doesn't count, since it's a 3rd gen chassis.
Moto-x helmet should be fine Robby, snell approved?
The exhaust should be fine too. Go on Wed! You know you want to taste 13's!
The '98 Z's are like 305hp right? So with those LT's/exhaust/lid I'd say low 13's if you have tires.
You know that auto will run consistant if you can hook/launch.

I don't know about "cool", but that's how it goes i guess.
LS1 4th gens are a dime a dozen to me, not as widespread as mustangs, but still all the same, too new and common for me to appreciate them yet.
Now that they are 7-8 years old, anybody can afford one that is older with higher miles.
Cool pics though Robby, don't blame you at all for getting that over Erics!
I would do the same thing with that ultimatum.

wow LOTS of miles. the ls1 is pretty sturdy though (until you get to a certain point *cough* aluminum block *cough*) so you should be okay. Piston slap at all? What's with the AC being gone?
Dunno if I'd ever buy a modded car, it's probably been through hell lol - mods and an AC delete mean someone was probably drag racing it. A trans cooler is a REALLY good idea. My 4l60e went out at about 165k, if it was cooled probably woulda lasted longer.
Better choice than erics car for sure though. how much did u pay for it?
Your exhaust is fine, I ran straight through exhaust on my old ta and they didnt say ****. if ur helmet is snell approved ur fine (snell 92 or something now). if u have tires it's in the 12s. without tires i'd say mid 13s prolly
del, we all bought 4th gens for the same reason - they're newer and nicer. that's all it is really. If I could have a third in the same condition as my camaro with the same miles (53k when i bought it) I would have bought it instead, but the point is I needed a nice daily driver.

Please don't post pics like this. It makes me look bad to the other moderators.
There is enough 3rd Gen content on this thread that I'll leave it though. It's not a topic I want to dwell on however --> 4th Gen/Power plant Envy.

All I'm sayin is that an LS1 is very common and can be had by anyone for 6-7K now, but that it will have a ton of miles and mods most likely.
Personally I wouldn't drop a signifcant amount of $ on a 150K miles car that's been raced, for the obvious reasons, how long will it last, 30-40K more?
I guess that's okay if you're wanting to pass it on again if a few years and want some fun out of it for now.
I see it as buying a used up Viper with 200,000 miles for cheap just because it's a Viper to be seen and have some last thrills in, when really it's on it's last leg.
Others might see it as a steal, but that's just me though.
I recall when Robby came on here he had his first little 305 and talked about the kids at his school with LS1's, etc.
We didn't have 300hp cars available for 5-7K when I was in high school, so it's just a sign of the times changing I guess.
I would've loved to have a '98 WS6 Trans Am when i was 18, but no way I was coming up with 25K.
I just get annoyed seeing kids running around in those things thinking they are the $hit.
So it's not that I blame anyone for wanting a nicer car, it's part of being a prideful 3rd gen owner, and well, this is a 3rd gen site y'all.

Hey i dont think iam the $hit!!!!! j/k I dont bag on anyone for liking the cars they like. I was 18 when i started posting here and i had the 91 firebird that some of you might remember....... And now at 21 i have a 04 gto because i like the car alot since they came out. The reason i stick around here is because out of all of the sites i go to the thirdgen crew is the easiest to get along with.

I'm glad y'all come here and gtg too instead of those other joints.

And yes I get annoyed too, but one thing about those guys that think they're the **** - they're usually really overconfident and can't really drive. They believe the LS1 is god's motor and infallable, however more than one has gotten beaten by the LT1 from a dig.
