Re-post but I love that vid, evidently it was resurrected from someones old VHS back in '87.
I love how they talk about updating the tires if you're buying a new car to the 60 series and then proceed to incineration.

Car: 87 IROC - 67 Camaro
Engine: 383 TPI - ZZ4 TPI
Transmission: 700R4 in both cars
Axle/Gears: 3.27 - 3.36 posi in both cars
After watching that video it brings back memories of my first Camaro I bought brand new in 1969, a Z-28. Hot rod mag did a test on a bone stocker it ran in the low 14's at about 100 mph. Mine ran a 14.4 at 99mph bone stock. 4.11 gears, muncie 4 speed close ratio, and the 302. I got 9 mpg!!!!!
Almost 20 years later, the IROC 350 with 3.27 gears and a 3 speed auto runs 14.5 at 99mph and gets over 20 mpg!!!!!
WOW!

But that 69' has something the IROC never had... That is why they are so popular now... The third gens are getting some recognition, but nothing like the 69' Camaro.
Have any pictures of that car?

Jason,
You're right, the first gens are the originals, that's why I love my 67' and won't sell it.
I do have some pics I scaned a while back. They were taken in 1970, most of them were taken at Lions drag strip. I raced the car for over a year in stock class, not bracket racing. AHRA I stock class.

Bone stock the car ran a 14.4 at 99mph. I put headers and cheater slicks and dropped down into the mid 13's. Some further tuning and real slicks into the 12's. Last change I made was installing 5.38 gears and the car ran the best time at 12.61 at 109 mph. At the time the record for my class was held by another Z28 at 12.05 et. He was back east and I never ran against him. I wound up with at least a dozen trophies, hardly ever lost. Later it was discovered that GM under-rated the HP which gave me a big advantage in stock class racing (advertized HP divided into car weight). Here are some time slips before I made the gear change.
