crossmeber

hey guys,
i bought a 92 RS about 1 1/2 months ago, i didn't notice the crossmeber when i bought it, i thought i checked everything but i guess i missed this. I hope you guys are able to see the pic (that's about as good as the pics will get without a lift). I did check the tittle and it's clean, but this cross member is really bent, as if it bottomed out and it hit real hard. The indentation is about 1 1/2 to 2 inches inward, so bad that it bent the exhaust pipe as well, the car still handles ok, but it came to my attention today as i was installing my steering brace.
two weeks ago i bought new tires for it and they rub when i turn so i thought i had bought too big of tires, but now i'm begining to think otherwise.
Any ideas or thoughts??? has anyone seen or dealt with anything like this? or am i pretty screwed here?
i've had other thirdgens and cross members have looked tore up but not this bad.

Sounds like a bent frame. Know anybody with a frame jig?

Could be a bent frame or just could be a really bad smashed in K member. I would take it to a good alignment shop and have them check out the car first. Taking it to a body shop and having them check it on a frame race will be a few $$$

Is the car on level ground and not raised in the pic?

Before I go saying bent "frame" I would definitely have the alignment / suspension parts checked out.

It definitely looks like it took a nice hit, but mine has surfed at triple digits speeds a few times and is straight as an arrow. The oil pan / everything looks tilted to the left and maybe a tubular k-member is in order.

WOW that's a big dent! It would have had to have some major force behind it in order to cause that big of an indentation.

I'd definitely have the alignment checked out. Have the tracking checked out too, make sure you aren't going down the road sideways.

well i know the alingment is off, i changed the front struts and i didn't mark the mounts before i took'em off.

alot of this s**t is making sense now tho, the driver's side front rim is bent, as for the oil pan, i looked at it and it seemed fine, it wasn't leaking when i got it 'till i changed to synthetic.
i just can't believe how hard it would need to hit to make such dent.
the car drives fine other then the slight shake from the bent rim, and the alignment being off.
i'll take it to a my buddy's shop see what he says, but i guess it's a good reason for tubular k member...
