lol, the people on the bmw forums were real jerks, they treated me like trash because i am only 16 and they thought i was a immature spoiled little kid, not the case, but finally i just had to tell it to them straight, and i made a thread that wasn't so friendly to the rules, won't happen here, i promise.
I honestly am not 100% sure, but i am 95, i don't know the vin off the top off my head, but the 8th number is 8 and i was told that means it is an L98 350 engine? also all the parts i ordered were for the 350 and they all work and fit fine. I can post the vin tomarrow for you if you want, it's too late to go get it off my car right now, lol.
Re: selling my 1987 trans am GTA 1900, vallejo, CA.
So today i got a call from someone intrested in my car, it is posted on craigslist btw, and he ask me how long i had the car, i say 3-4 monthes, he says how much have u put into it, i said about 1500, he said oh, and your asking 1900? i said ya, do you have a different idea for a price and he says oh..hows a thousand? i was like uhh...seriously? i told him i need 1500+ he said nope not worth it, i then proceeded to get a chain of 7 calls one after another asking if he can drive it and if he can come pay for it now...
i thought this was hilarious, just thought id update on how my sale is going..

Is a 350 with T-tops rare? because everyone i tell is skeptical..They might be aftermarket T-tops if thats possible..i dont know what the guy before me did to it.
Re: selling my 1987 trans am GTA 1900, vallejo, CA.
update: took it off the market, it will causually be for sale if that make sense..but it's in the shop right now and i am going to find out everything that's wrong with it by the end of the week and let you guys know, then when i fix it all up, it will be back for sale
Re: selling my 1987 trans am GTA 1900, vallejo, CA.
engine and transmission are all good, problems: fuel lines were blocked off so fuel was going through the intake manifold into the oil plug wires were bad, fuel pressure regulator was shot..they ran a compression test on the engine and said it was in great condition..
goods: the person who rebuilt the engine before me was into racing i guess, because he added a race shifting kit, bigger fuel injectors, and lots of other little things to add some power, the mechanic is a hot rodder, cool guy, and he said it has alot of power and he had a hard time not spinning the tires when he took it for a test drive
so since i know the engine and tranny are good and sound ima raise the price to about 2100..
Re: selling my 1987 trans am GTA 1900, vallejo, CA.
UPDATE: car is still for sale im askin 5,000 for it now seems steep but i have done alot to it since i last posted, i have receipts, the car runs great, ive been daily driving her on highways and freeways all over no problems at all, just passed smog, im about to get it registered, just got new catalytic converter, new front rotors, new pads all around, new front brake drums, new tires, spacers in the springs to bring it back to OEM height, the list goes on so 5000, i might be able to work with pricing a little tiny bit, but lemme know if your interested
Re: selling my 1987 trans am GTA 1900, vallejo, CA.
I hate people like you. tbh. Jacking around with prices trying to squeeze out an extra dollar on some pos that probably isn't even titled in your name. Take your drama out of our forums please. Kthx

Seems to me 5K is a little on the high side. The biggest issue your car faces is the salvage tittle. There are some insurance companies that won't touch a car with a slavage tittle, and it usually scares a lot of people away. Now I haven't seen your car so I won't call it for sure, but I think the highest I would go would be 3K. Oh, and the thought of aftermarket t-tops bothers me too, I have a '79 Camaro with those C&C tops and they really suck (it will be going back to a hard top when I do the restoration). Just my two cents.

ya, i dont even know if the t-tops are aftermarket or not, i mean is there someway i can tell?, and i know the salvage title is a huge turnoff, but i mean..what can i do, im just pricing it based on how much i put into it..and i am even willing to sell it for a little less, so idk..
Re: selling my 1987 trans am GTA 1900, vallejo, CA.
im just messin with ya, but a good rule of thumb for third gens... you will never get back what you put into it. Not any time soon at least. Convince your old man to let you hang on to it or just keep the price above 5k so no one buys it.

3rd gens that are salvaged and in the condition you've shown/stated will be lucky to get 2-3K.
How many miles are on the actual car? I see 58K on a rebuild in your description.
I believe he's f'n with you because your price is ridiculous. I'm giving you a break because you're just a youngsta.
Just put it on Craigslist for 2K and get it over with.
probably like 200k miles haha, idk, but, ya ill put it on craigslist...

haha, you got me...but thats a good idea.."for sale 1987 trans am GTA salvage title, needs work, 7500" haha
Re: selling my 1987 trans am GTA 1900, vallejo, CA.
I'm going to side with rough on this one, keep it. And like the others said if it pleases your old man to see it for sale just post it high so it won't sell, and if it does you will walk away with enough money to feel good about it. You are no more likely to kill yourself in this car than in any other, just drive safe (you are more protected in that 'bird than you would be in most of the econoboxes kids drive these days). If you really want to learn to drive fast sign up for a performance driving school, or find a local track to race on.

ya im thinkin the same thing its just because the person before put alot of little power adders into the car my dad got into his head that its way too fast for me being 16..but the driving school sounds good..do you know if infineon offers that? and/or how much something like that would cost? thanks.
Re: selling my 1987 trans am GTA 1900, vallejo, CA.
Sorry bud, I don't know much about Infineon. I would think they do though, the best way to find out would be to give them a call. If nothing else they might have a one day class that just familiarizes you with running down the quarter mile. It has been about ten years since I was last in a driving class, but I would expect they could range from a couple hundred up into the tens of thousands (not that a normal 16 year old's budget would allow that). You might even be able to get your old man in on that also because a lot of those classes teach you a lot about the dynamics of how the physical forces work while you are in motion. Once you understand the casic principals, you will be able to apply them in your day to day driving which will make you a much more conscious and safe driver. If you approach it right he may even want to go with you, I know I will be going through a couple with mine. It is a shame you are so far away, I have helped a few new drivers acclimate (sp?) to driving these types of cars and would be more than willing to help.
