I'm in the process of putting my camaro to stock (no headers) so I can smog it and daily drive it again. Gets old driving the 4 cyl around everyday. Been sitting on blocks for 2 months!

Re: so any progress
Well I got the T56 in not long ago, and I have been fine tuning the car ever since. I think I have the chip fairly close, but there is always room for improvement. I started a new project the other day... pulled the dash out and the front spoiler off... I'm sanding and painting the spoiler and fixing the small crack in the dash.
Then I decided that I should just repaint the whole nose and hood while I'm at it... but that might cost too much when I'm looking for a rear end and not having much money coming in... So I decided the best thing to do is just not look at the front end for awhile.
Also looked into all new gauges so that I could get my speedo working again but... well I need to spend the money elsewhere first.
First thing I need to do is find out why the damn thing grinds 90% of the time going into reverse while the rest of the time I can get lucky and jam it in... not always though... I have had to push the car back a couple of times. Then when I take off and drive for a few feet it will go into reverse. It sucks.
Also need a new steering box.... mine has gotten completely sloppy.
My motivation is high on the car and I love working on it every chance I get... I just wish I had a little more money for it.

Re: so any progress
New cam has been in for several months (thanks to Bennie's help).
New Optima yellow top (thanks to Travis deal).
Street/dyno tune soon.
Need tint.
Need new drag radials.
Need to go racing.
Bought new Aero spoiler in the GP, has not arrived yet.
Re-paint next year.
That's about it.

Re: so any progress
I am going to replace my Jacobs ultra coil to the new MSD 8253 HVC in-house built ignition coil. Hopefully it will take care the ignition misfire at 6400. May still need a new MSD ignition box(MSD 6AL2). Will need to change gears to 3.73 or maybe 4.10s as well. I need to calculate which one to use with a 28 in tall tire and a 700R4. Also need to redo my fuel lines and supply. Then recharge the A/C. Nothing beats racing in comfort. Will it be done soon? I doubt it. Too many "Honey Do's", babysit, do this, babysit. Oh well, I'm still young........damn, how old am I? Got 4 kids.... ah I'll take 30. Yeah, 30 that sounds good.

Just driving it!
Summer school has started and business has been picking up so I've been too busy to play with it. Treating me good, except something is wrong with the starter/flywheel. Sometimes the gear just hits the flywheel without meshing and makes a clank, it's like it's not strong enough to push the flywheel over a fraction to allow the gear to engage. All I have to do is put a little tug on the serp. belt to turn the engine over by hand a degree or two and it fires right up.

Weak starter? Had what sounds like the same problem with my Toyota truck. Had to let it roll forward a little, let out the clutch while holding the key to "start" then the starter would kick the engine over like normal.

I need to put the infamous BB down soon though, been pondering a BBC swap even "I wanna go fast"!
Aluminum rear bushings need to go, brakes are crap, clutch slipping, needs another tune, injectors are leaking, wheels are dirty, paint chipped etc. etc. etc. but it is still a blast to drive and never says die like any Camaro.
Sucks A-Rod, you'll git r dun, but look on the bright side, your next job will be a nice change of pace, I can't imagine it being any worse...

If you go BBC, I hope you aren't planning on still daily driving it. That would suck the gas right out your ***.
Im sure whatever you do decide to do will be sick...
I need to slap my car back together. Felicia is taking a drive to Oregon on the 10th and I need her all legit. After that, I have a feeling, she is going to be parked until I get a new job ... any maybe my ticket payed off... I am not sure it is going to cost though because I think I am going to take driving school and I don't know if the ticket price drops.

Re: so any progress
Yeah, T56 would help it, most 454's I've rolled in get like 8MPG! From what I've been reading I need a cowl hood with the intake I would run and that might be the dealbreaker because if I can't have my IROC hood, I might as well sell the car...
Honestly I am looking forward to putting it down in the near future, I might just H/C and freshen up the 355 to see how much damage I've done to her over the years
Maybe rebuild that trans / clutch / lt.wt. flywheel while its out and save some cash by keeping it GEN1. It will definitely get new injectors and retuned, needs that for sure, like yesterday.
Another thing it really needs is TIRES!!!
Traffic school won't lower the fine, it is there to take the offense off of your driving record, and only eligible if you haven't had traffic school in 6mos. The only times I have ever had a fine lowered is when you show proof of the offense that has been corrected (like showing an insurance card when cited for no insurance coughericcough)

Damn, you got screwed. My speeding ticket was exactly $100 less. $207 or 257$. Usually there are payment plans though. Just ask at the courthouse about it.

Just took it for a drive after the intake gasket. It needs an oil change, fuel pressure adjusted and I am thinking the timing needs to be done too.
I did see a few drops of oil though. I am going to have to check it out tomorrow. I am going to be really upset if it is leaking again. I am done blowing money on it for it to not even run very good. I am really close to parking it for a for a few years.

I am pretty sure the gaskets aren't leaking. I think everything else that is minor is...
I also am having coolant leaking into my interior from the Heater core, but I think it is just a line, because the heater wasn't on at all... So I am going to attack the coolant issue today.

bleh, heater cores are not very fun on these cars. Far as I can remember there isn't a shut off valve to stop the flow through it so you better hope it's a hose that just needs tightening. Where abouts is the oil leak coming from? Front or back of the engine? I had one that crept up all the time back of the motor passenger side. I put a little extra goop right at the corner where the intake and head met and the leak finally stopped.
Oh yeah my car is running on all 8 now, vacuum gauge was bouncing all over plus running rough. Pulled the valve cover off to go through adjusting the rockers and one wasn't moving, doh. Pushrod wasn't in the lifter lol.

I am stuck working on my dad's pos truck right now. I put a new gasket on it, and I need to fill it back up, but the bolt is seized on it. Grr, so I have tinkering on it for a few hours.

Yeah, there is a heater core change in my near future. Last week mine started leaking! I bypassed it for now, probably go buy a new one this week. I've never changed one on a third gen. I can only imagine how much fun I am gonna have...

Re: so any progress
I should be embarrased how dirty my car is. but I did this yesterday out of boredom. any suggestions? I am thinking a coat of vht niteshade to bring it a shade darker and more blended in with the rest of the taillights, in person they do look amazing and eveyrone ive shown so far agrees. I think in pictures they reflect light differently of coarse so it shows a little lighter then it really is.

Dang, im sorry, that blows. My hood still has a dent in it from when it got vandalized back in november. And now my fender has a dent in it magically from when I was dealing with my superram.
Anyone has any good suggestions for a dent puller?

Re: so any progress
Not sure if my Iroc will ever leave the garage. Have not touched it in months.
All the parts are there, but lack of carb tuning knowledge and no oil pressure on the dash gauge. I may get a manual oil presssure gauge under the hood to verify pressure. I don't know.....
She looks bad sitting front end up on stands for months now

Re: so any progress
I'm still slowly going through the tear-down of my 1984 z28, as usual time and money are in excessively short supply. Plus the property I am renting my shop at is having a bit of a black widow problem, so it's hard to keep motivation to stay out there for long. The owner and I are working on extermination plans, so hopefully we will have that figured out soon and I can get back to work. Once I get the rest of the dash out the interior will be stripped completely. Then I can focus on disassembling the suspension and body, and when that's done I can begin with cleaning, preping, painting, and reassembly. Hopefully I can have her on the road in a few years, I miss driving a third gen.
