need springs installed... any recommendations?

I have a set of factory type moog springs that I want installed. Does anyone have any recommendations in the norcal area? preferably around Petaluma...?

car is a 92 z convert- nothing wrong w/ present springs.... other than how low the car is. Which is why i want to replace the springs.
appreciate the help-

Its not too hard of a job. Any reputable shop in your area should be able to undertake that repair

If you haven't rebuilt the front end yet it might be a good time. If your going to drop the lower control arms to change the springs you might as well change out the ball joints and bushings at the same time.
I rebuilt my front end last winter and I was surprised how bad the bushing looked and my vert only registers 79k miles.

Interesting thought- I may want to get a friend to assist on this and do it the right way.
Maybe, I can have the shop just change the springs on the struts for me- not the entire process like i was going to.
thanks for the insight.

if its factory, the front springs arent attached to the strut.

Re: need springs installed... any recommendations?

If its factory you have coil springs compressed between teh lower control arm and subframe. the strut does not have a spring around it. it connects to the steering knuckle and the inner fenderwell with a strut bearing plate setup. It wouldnt be a bad idea to go ahead and do the whole front end that is what I did. At least do the ball joints, lower control arm bushings, new front struts, strut bearings. You can always do the inner and outer tie rod ends, centerlink later...you will deffinately have to get an alignment and most the time just having it in "oe specs" isnt sufficient but possible. Good luck.

Re: need springs installed... any recommendations?

You can do the springs and ball joint replacement yourself. You can rent all of the tools you need at O'Rielys for cheap. The spring compressor makes the job easy and a ball joint press and of hour of cussin' and you'll have new ball joints.
It's not that hard if you have a decent shop manual to use as referance.

Some people pay to lower their cars, but you're paying to raise it back up! Just kidding, it can be done at home, but it's not fun, and if you're squeamish, it can be a real butt-clincher. New struts would also help restore it to proper height.

Re: need springs installed... any recommendations?

Thanks for all the information. I've been talking to a guy at work (supra 80's style) and I can possibly get him to help me. You are right about the springs. I helped change out my springs in a FJ i use to own, but it was because they were coil overs that were being installed and removed. for some reason... those were not that much of a pain in the ****.

If you have some mechanical knowledge and a halfway decent brain you should be able to get it done no problem. Best of luck to ya.
