Where are some good Chicagoland speed shops?
I am ocassionally in the Chicago area (Alsip to be exact) once or twice a year and was wondering if anyone knows of any good old style speed shops or similar (no import ***** stores) within a 30 mile radius of Alsip.
I was there last week but I only found the typical chain stores like Pep Boys and such on Cicero. I didn't really comb the area but I drove about 10 miles to both the north and south of 127th.

The only 2 speedshops that I know of E & R Automotive, in Villa Park, IL, and The Winner's Circle in Joliet, IL. I'm not sure how far they are from Alsip, but at least it's a start.

Thanks for the names, I'll look them up next time I get down to Chicago. Anyone know of any others worth checking out?

don't shop at winner's circle....the guys there are dicks. You should try "A team speed shop" it's on oak park avenue and 167th street. On the southeastern corner of the intersection. This guy is really nice and will help get you whatever you want within 24 hours usually. Plus he doesn't jack prices up like winner's circle....i wouldn't be caught dead in there again.

I bought a lot of stuff from Winner's circle and never had a problem. They match Summit and Jeg's prices. NEVER GO TO WHITE'S PIT STOP they suck! They don't know anything about anything and if you don't know what your looking for you are doomed. At least that was my personal experience both times I was there. I also heard the Chevy Shop was excellent. I got he best deal from WC and I can't help but recommend them. Ask for Jim in Joliet he's the owner!! I have no vested interest in them but if they weren't good they wouldn't have gotten my 1000's of dollars I spent!

I have never had a problem with White"s Pit Stop in Lansing, Illinois. But I usually know or have a good idea what I want when I go there.
