Park Ridge cops SUCK
Alright so me and my buddy are driving back from best buy b/c i'm gonna be doing his car stereo tonight, and we're driving next to the railroad tracks in park ridge, near uptown but heading towards edison park. the speed limit is 25MPH and thats practically crawling speed, so my buddy and i are driving maybe 45 b/c thats just too slow for me (keep in mind hes driving a 98 explorer v6), all of a sudden flashers in the rear view mirror, i turn off the stereo and 3 cops jump out of an suv w/ their guns pointed at my face, he opens the door and throws me to the ground and cuffs me. another squad car does the same to my friend, so were both laying face flat on canfield(w/ traffic coming!) he says wanna go to jail u F'n POS drag racer? this is when im thinking to myself "wtf are u talking about pig? i would hardly call going 20 over in a 25 zone drag racing". then he goes, u guys were neck and neck doin 60, then i said to him "do u really think a v6 heavy a$$ explorer could stay nose and nose w/ me?"he says were gonna go down to the station and first hes gonna search my car, asks if i have anything to hide, and i think no theres nothin in there go ahead. Of course im a dumba$$ and left a knife in the console i got from an uncle the week before at a party. so he says ooops theres another misdemeanor. he proceeds to make me look like a fool while all of my neighbors drive by. after another 10 minutes of playing Harda$$ cop, he says i can help myself out by giving him names of drug dealers that go to my school(I just graduated from maine south) and i BS and say i dont know any b/c im not gonna be a Narc. then he calls my dad(even tho im 18)???? my dad doesnt give a SH*T about the so-called drag racing or the knife b/c it was from his brother, but my dad plays it off on the cops like hes really pissed at me blah blah blah so the cops let us off saying if i know of any druggies to give him a call. lol wow park ridge cops are basically security guards w/ guns and cuffs.
brings me to my next point, anyone else got retarded a$$ stories?

Re: Park Ridge cops SUCK
i got pulled over once when i had a 300zx that i was buying from my buddy....well i was making payments to him so it was still in his name and the registration sticker expired. well this was my only car and i needed to go back and forth to work so i took the registration sticker from my parts 300zx that wasnt expired and put it on the windshield....well i got pulled over for speeding one day and the cop checked the vin numbers on the reg sticker and when he found out it was for another car he proceeded to rip it off and ball it up...he then looked around for a place to put it cause he very well couldnt litter and ended up handing it to me and sayin throw this away. lol so what do i do when i get home? i straiten the sticker out and put it back on untill my buddy got me my new one a month later lol.... almost every run in ive had with cops the cops were cool i was real polite and they would let me off. ive only had that one ticket in 7 years....but ive pulled over and let go for racing and "racing myself'' aka powersliding the camaro in front of a state trooper i didnt see lol....

man that sucks to hear. im pretty sure they aren't allowed to search your car unless they have reason to believe you have something. i would of told him no, my friend had his car searched and the door panel was loose and the cop ripped it off

I dunno, you say "only" 20 mph over in a 25 zone, that's almost double the speed limit so you drew attention to yourself.
But being hauled out of the car and cuffed on the ground is WAY over the top, I'd almost say thats grounds for assault. You weren't putting the cops in danger by driving AT Them or even having a knife on your person.
I've been on that side myself. Driving way up north in the country (Hwy 118 for fellow canucks in ontario) in an 80 zone and I'm going 90 - a typical speed but actually much slower than the locals drive. There were two cars in front of me also going 90 and maybe about 1km in front of me. Well I go through a zone that drops to 60, a few houses but definately no town, and I don't notice that the speed limit has changed.
The cars in front of me don't slow down, and when they round the bend I see a cop shooting radar. He drops his arm and starts shaking his head like I was going 180km/hr and pulled me over. I was livid, but I didn't disrespect. It was a young guy, that must have just graduated. I asked him why he didn't stop the two in front of me and he had no response. He dropped the ticket to 10 over and away we went.
If you're ever pulled over, never show angst or call them a "pig" cause it's just not going to help your situation. Sure you may feel that way, and I'd be pretty pissed as well in that situation, but you gotta keep the head.

Re: Park Ridge cops SUCK
45 in a 25 is some serious speed, specially if its residential (as most 25mph zones are) with cars parked on both sides of the street and kids playing in the yard.
The average limit is about 10%, so at 25mph that makes for about 27.5mph, no cop could just the difference based on visual alone. Even if you were doing 30 in a 25 a cop could conceivable ignore it. But 45 in a 25? C'mon thats excessive.
75 in a 55 on a 3 lane highway with no traffic isn't so bad. Sure, you could still get ticked, but its not a big deal. 45 in a 25 is a big deal.

Most cops will not pull you over for 27 in a 25. If they do give you a ticket for it, go to court and plead guilty. Its almost a gaurentee that you will get supervision for 30 days and a minor fine. Then it disapears forever.
I got a ticket for 89 in a 55. Plead guilty and received supervision for 60 days, stayed clean and its gone now. My driving record is perfectly clean, even though I have been ticketed before.
If a cop is ticketing you for 27 in a 25 he's hard up and his bosses are harassing him about not nabbing enough people.
However 45 in a 25 is almost certainly a problem.

Ive heard park ridge cops are bad but thats terrible. Des plaines cops pull the same story though with street racing. Ive been pulled over twice recently and the cop accused me of street racing and threatened to arrest me on the spot.

Re: Park Ridge cops SUCK
Hey brother I got a good one for ya. Last summer on the luckiest day of the year 7/7/07 I was down at the beach. (Seaside Heights Toms River, NJ) Driving down the boulevard checkin out the ladies. (keep in mind this was like a friday night or saturday night) I had my radio on listening to Yes-Owner of a Lonely heart, keep in mind I had a 50% stock sound system. Stock speakers under the dash and pioneers under the sail panels (one broken) So im driving along and in front of me theres an *** in a yukon blasting some rap music with subs the whole 9. I see flashers in my rear im like what could this POSSIBLY be about. Mr. Officer pulls me over and comes up to my window and says that there is a sound ordinance here in seaside heights. BEFORE I COULD SPEAK TO TELL HIM THAT IT WAS THE DRIVER IN FRONT OF ME. He forces me to give him my ****. So im sitting in my car as he is writing the ticket. And im saying to myself this is so f**** up!!!! youve GOT to be kidding me. I think to myself cops are good people right, theyre understanding arent they I mean they are people to. So im like Ill walk over to his POS crown vic and try to explain to him that It wasent my stereo. I get out of my car and approach him. "Excuse me Officer theres been a little bit of a misunder........" CLUNK CLUNK. Tackles me into the passenger side rear quarter panel of my 89 iroc. im on the ground with cuffs and the next thing i know im in a holding cell. they towed my car and f***up the lower spoiler. i had to pay 170 to get my car out of the impound and the towing company denied any records of having any type of camaro that week, so they wouldent have to pay for a repair.

If you pay by mail it is a conviction, and it does go on your record in most cases. In order to receive supervision an option you have to go to the court house.

Re: Park Ridge cops SUCK
wrongoooooooooooo as long as you qualify for supervision you can get supervision thru the mail.it cost 40 more and you get to do it online!!!!! the best part is they give you 6 months to complete it and you stop and start whenever you want........31 or more over=mandatory court appearance.keep it under 30 and youll get an envolope and home free.

The cops here are idiots another time Im pulling out of 7 11 in the '85 Z I used to have. There was a cop sleeping in his car in the lot(no joke) and my idiot friend behind me burnsout. The cop wake sup and of course it assumes the camaro since my friend was in his truck. Blows by my friend and pulls me over. SAys I squealed my tires and scared the old man behind me and made him swerve. The "old man" was my friend swerving bc he was doing a burnout! He goes on and on about how I should know this is a fast car and its the fastest that Chevy had in the 80s. Yes those are his exact words for a nearly stock LG4. The cop goes on that its his word against mine so I just say ok I must have squealed the tires and not noticed it. Let me off with a warning while my friend is in the steak and shake parking lot across the street laughing at me enjoying a shake.

The one time he "let me off" with a ticket for speeding. The second time he had me and my friend get out of the car after askign if ive ever been arrested before. So Im assuming he was about to take us in but my buddy started dropping some names and the cop changed his attitude and said have a nice day get out of here.

I agree about exercising your rights but you gotta make sure youre smart about it. You can easily make yourself look like a smart as to a cop and then theyll really get ya.

Re: Park Ridge cops SUCK
no,theyll only "get you "if youre in the wrong at which point you deserve it.nowadays most police have cameras, some digital where the supervisor can watch them 24/7 from the station.they aint going to jepordze their jobs and risk lawsuits or prison just to mess with a 23 yr old driving a camaro. you see a pattern on most of these stories?they all were let go w/o action being taken????? the popo were hoping to find further and when they didnt they cut you loose which is why i always say if you dont have anything to hide dont worry. if youre hiding something too bad you loose scumbag.go meet bubba for his "love"
