New Member in Indy, Just picked up a 91 RS
I wasn't sure where to place this post. I thought since there doesn't appear to be a region covering Central Indiana, I'll have to find my way up to "The Region" sometime for a meet.
I've had four Camaros (one 2nd gen, one 3rd gen, two 4th gen). Its been years and a lot of cars in between. I'm friggin' pumped to have another one finally to keep.
I just got back from Cleveland, OH with this black beauty! She's only got 49,xxx miles and I got her for a steal. The car needs a passenger door, a nice paint job and it will be standing tall.
I'll post more pics soon, but I just wanted to introduce myself and get one pic of the car up on the boards.

Re: New Member in Indy, Just picked up a 91 RS
Thanks guys, good to see some members on here from central Indiana! I was out at that World of Wheels 2 weekends ago and talked with one of the guys from the Central Indiana Camaro Club. Any of you guys hang out with them?
The car has had a few surprises for me already. She's developed a small coolant leak from the back of the intake manifold, and an oil leak at the outer rear corner of the driver side cylinder head (not sure what that is yet since I didn't think it was common for small blocks to leak oil from the cylinder head gaskets). The other awesome discovery was some sludge in the oil filter when I changed the oil for the first time...
Like I tell my wife, its just more "fun" projects for the car.
To mackjar66: I'm in need of the fog lights, brackets, wiring and switch; if you have that stuff on the Z28 you are parting out. I can come get the parts this weekend, plus possibly any other interesting items you might have. PM or post to let me know.

I used to be in the Central Indiana Camaro Club. They are a good group of people. I was in it before the 5th gen came out. The membership went down(with no camaro in production) and they were doing more golf and bowling type outings than real car outings so I lost interest. It seems like the membership numbers are up again since the 5th gen has come out. They seem to be getting back into doing more real car related stuff again now too which is a good thing.

I hate to say this but after picking up this z28. I won't be parting it. I'm gonna have it fixed back up in less than two weeks as long as the chassis isn't rusted out anywhere. Do far its just a rear bumper brace that's bad

I took my first year of college in Franklin. There are a lot of us central thirdgen lovers around. I've got around 7 of us from this board within 20 minutes of my house in Chalmers

Sickness, your car looks friggin' awesome from the signature block you have on your profile!
Any of you guys planning on going to thirdgenfest this year? The goal here is to get my car mechanically ready to roll in time for Memorial Day and drive out there even with it looking tired and beat up (hope to send it out for paint in June). If I can make that happen, it would be cool to ride out to IL in a small convoy.

Re: New Member in Indy, Just picked up a 91 RS
Looks like I'm going to have to bust my rear end to get the car ready to drive to Illinois and join you guys. I had time to get under the car over the weekend and do some cleaning to find the leak. The oil leak is the least of my worries, the majority of the issue is leaking coolant. Not only is the intake leaking, but so is the left rear corner of the driver side cylinder head gasket (heavily now).
Sooo...time is not the issue, money is the issue. I will have to save up for a little while because if I'm going to do this, I'm going to save my self some time later. Looks like headers and full exhaust will be in order while I've got it apart.
Done by Memorial Day weekend is a realistic goal though.

Re: New Member in Indy, Just picked up a 91 RS
Good, I was really afraid, that this was a tough crowd ;-)
This is my 3rd Third Gen, and I'm really having fun with it and learning a lot from this site. I had a 88 IROC Vert that was stolen in 09 and I finally found something to replace it.
I haven't been to Thirdgen Fest either but I thought it would be pretty cool, especially since its so close to Indy.

Ah, I've never been to a car show period. Heck first time working on a car was like 3 weeks ago and I'm 20 in april. I've always been into cars just never really learned anything and now that I got a 92' rs with a 350 and tons of rigging im learning.
I feel outta place here though not knowing much about cars.

Noob or not one thing is for sure you have excellent taste - these are the best looking cars! You only learn by doing, so having a needy car can be a good thing. I haven't had one of these engines apart in years so I'm learning all over again.

Not yet still waiting to get the rest of my parts from the guy I got it from. right now it has a 454 mounted in it but that is coming out. trade a v-8 astro van for it (my wife hated the van). hoping to get this done middle of the summer then paint in the winter.
