Help power gods!!!

I just bought my GF a 85 Camaro. We want a weekend mustang and rice killer plus stip action about every week. We want low times (Mid 12's or lower and still streetable!!!) How would this sound?

67-85 350 block
Flat top 10:1 compression (Hypereutectic pistons)
Felpro gaskets
Clevite bearings
2.02 intake and 160 exhaust valve GM heads
(with porting, polishing, milling, and other work done)
1.6 ratio rocker arms
Comp Cams Magnum Cam 292/292 Duration, .501/.501 Lift
Edelbrock Performer EPS intake
Holly 750 d/p or Edelbrock Performer 800
Dynomax shorty headers
cutouts after custom 3" pipe
flowmaster for the street
2500-2800 stall converter
3.73's or 4.10's in the rear (GM 12 bolt)
Turbo 350 tranny with race internals (neck snapping shifts)
Working cowl induction hood (4" outlaw)
Slicks
Lightin the car upto 2800-3000 lbs w/o driver (she is about 100 lbs)
All accell and MSD electrical componets (plugs, wires, etc...)

Think we can hit those numbers??? If not tell me what I need to do! Money is a big problem.

To hit those times, you can't cheap out.

Get some good headers instead of those junk dynomax ones.
I wouldn't get the EPS either, small powerband when compared to the Weiand Stealth, plus the Stealth is cheaper $110 in Summit.
That's about as far as I can help, I'll let the more knowledgable guys lend a hand.

Oh yeah, I'd go for 4:10s as well.

Build it to last. Use forged pistons
1.6 rockers are a poor mans cam swap. Decide the proper cam to use in the first place.
Trying to get a third gen that light with driver means there's not going to be much left of the car. Keeping it in street trim will be hard to get below 3300 pounds.

Much of the stuff you listed means nothing to providing power, bearings, gaskets, block etc.

Once an engine is built and hp/torque are determined, then the torque converter stall selection is done. Gear ratio will depend on the tire size and the engine's red line rpm. Start by squeezing the tallest tire you can into the wheel wells then pick the gear ratio that works best with that tire size.

We have a local racer with a 1980 Monza with a 355 that runs mid 12's and is still street legal. It's not hard to do and you don't need a lot of exotic parts to do it. Just a good combination of parts properly put together. It's not just about the engine. You need to make sure all that power gets to the ground with some better suspension components.

A 3300 pound car running mid 12's needs somewhere between 300 and 350 hp to the rear wheels. Making the car as light as possible is the cheapest way to go faster. It requires less hp to run mid 12's with a 3000 vehicle than it does a 3500 pound vehicle.

Terry,
I'm finally back in town, let me know if you want to go to IRP and race some time. When I raced at Muncie I wanted to talk to you again before I went home but couldn't find you. Sounds like you have some good ideas for your gf's camaro. I think you would be close to 12's with the combo you listed. The easiest way to run 12's and stay streetable is by using good heads like AFR, Dart.. ect and choosing good cam for your combo.

Whats a good set of headers and how much will they run? The stealth sounds great but is it good on the street? I have heard only great thigs about it. I just got the tranny and am going to order the shift kit and rebuild kit this weekend I think. The reason I mentioned the bearings and gaskets is to make sure they will be good qualilty and last a while. I dont want to rebuild every weekend. How hard are those trannys to rebuild? I have good common knowledge of mechanics and can use my hands well.

Welp, Let me know if there are any other thinging I can do for her and make her hit low times!

Also Would a 3300 lbs car with 375/400 hp/tq can hit 11s?

Thanbks

3300 pound and 375hp should run 12.02 so it should be very close.

Don't forget when running into the 11's the car will get heavier since you then need a roll bar, 5 point harness and fire jacket. My 6 point roll bar is 70 pounds.
