Cam suggestions needed for .550 lift
I need a cam suggestion that would be just under 550 lift with my 1.6 rockers. The engine is a 400 .030 over with flat top pistons and Fastburn heads. I have a Super Victor Vortec intake and a Demon 850DP. The car runs 12.25 @ 110mph now.

Yes limited to 550 lift unless I go for some springs good to 650 and I am considering that. Want to stay ahead of a buddy who will have his car ready next spring.

You may need bigger springs but a flat tappet cam with .600-.650" lift will have tons of duration and will probably push your power band above where your bottom end is capable of going (more than once).
I am sure some of the guys on here will have good suggestions though...

That's the same cam I'm running. I ordered it on a small base circle for clearance on the 5.7 rods that I was going to at the same time.
Specs off the cam card at 106 intake centerline read as follows:
Gross valve lift .534
duration at .050 was 250 intake and exhaust
lobe lift .3560
lobe separation 110
part# 12-000-5
grind# CS 6014/6014 S 110.0 +4
I'm pretty satisfied with it, still got power brakes though I use a vacuum reserve can. Power band to 6500. The specs are a little different from the off the shelf part but thats what I ordered, I guessing here but probaly getting it on the small base might of had something to do with it. I even called tech back up and questioned it and he assured me I got the 294S grind on the small base.
