How'm I doing, guys?
I don't post much in the racing forum, but I'm happy! This weekend, I broke into the 13's! (Thanks guys, you're the best!)
Got a 13.95 at 97.7 mph, N/A. 1.88 60'. (Track is over 2000 ft. elevation.)
Car: 91 GTA (auto) Mods- all the bolt on's: 52mm throttle body, Edelbrock runners, (cleaned up.) TPIS intake manifold (ported.) Custom chip. 2"3/4 headers & all exhaust. Like, 2000-stall converter. Flowmaster. Slicks.
Stock: heads, cam, accessories, interior etc, 3.23 rear end... newer 22* injectors, wires, plugs etc. Orig 191,000 (on motor, and timing chain!)
I've been racing more than a year... Pretty much using the parts that the 'big wheels' outgrow, since I'm poor. Stock w/slicks best was 14.54. After runners and intake manifold 14.20's. (Last time w/o throttle body, bad shocks ran 14.16) (& Dyno'd 253RWHP 319RWTQ.)
Some say with this setup, I should run close to 13.70's. Any suggestions? I'm saving up for heads and cam, rebuild of course!

Congrats on breaking into the 13s. We need to know what you have before we can offer some help (305/350). One sudgestion is to unbolt the rest of the exaust from the headers at the track, or do the easy thing and get cutouts.

They don't allow cutouts at the track, at least not in the 'street legal' races in California. I don't know about Summit series.

I don't think I have any of those free mods... I have a kN filter that I take out when I run. Stock air intake tube though.
It's speed density not maf.

Cool!
I don't have an AFPR yet.
I'm pretty happy with things now... I probably won't do any more mods until after the heads & cam.

Do the little free mods. Mostly beacuse they are free lol. AFPR doesnt really do much. A good heads/Cam combo will be huge for that car. You will have to change the shift points if you do a cam. The stock shift points are set to the settings of your stock cam. So it will shift around 4700 rpms. With an aftermarket cam you are going to make more power past 5K. So dont forget about that.

You could always do some weigh reduction. Does your track have a test and tune night, if so then then weather you have cutouts or not shouldent matter.
Also dont go with to big of a cam unless you are planning on changing stall.

13.7-13.9 sounds about right for your trap speed. Your lucky your car came stock with 3.23's.

Nothing listed for 2000'. Closest are 1900' and 2100'. Assuming 2100' (be sure to use the Super Stock/Stock table), the factors are .9757 & 1.0255. A 13.95 @ 97.7 mph translates to 13.61 @ 100.2 mph at sea level.

Cool!
I don't know exactly what the altitude is at the track at Fontana, Ca. It's up there. But that's a nice estimate!
The 3.23's will go out with the motor, but I hope that won't be for a long, long while.
