Ok I am thinking about getting a new or second car...I've owned 2 3rd Gen camaro's and one 3rd Gen T/A. They were pretty mean especially the T/A with it's built 400. But at the time I was into drag only. Now I'm looking to get into road racing a little bit. I'm wondering how the 3rd Gen's are on roads that aren't straight. How's the handling. If it's not very good can you make it good? If I get one it will more than likely be an IROC or another T/A...leaning toward the T/A, kinda miss my old one. I'm also looking into 4th Gen LS1 T/A's, would I be better off getting one of those? Thanks for the help guys.

A third gen is better designed for road racing than it is for drag racing.

Yeah but its still a pretty good contender for drag racing : Pretty lightweight , aerodynamic , rock solid when hooked with some good frame connectors and awsom possibility of engines , trans and diff ...

The downside for a third gen and drag racing is the unibody design. It's terrible.

At least the first and second gens had a front subframe that could be unbolted and removed and a new tubular subframe with custom front suspension could be simply bolted in.

Rear suspension isn't much better. The torque arm suspension isn't bad but it makes it very difficult and expensive to upgrade to something better.

A fourth gen probably handles better for road racing because it has a wider track width which will help stability. Suspension wise, they're about the same. Front suspension on a fourth gen is better because they got away from the front strut system.

Handling for road racing or drag racing depends on how much you want to spend. You could build either and the only thing common to the car is the body style. Go look at a complete tube chassis car to see how much of the car, if any, is still part of the original production car. At least my car you can look at it and see that it's still a production car converted into a race car.

I will just be hitting the track for fun, so I will just be modding the stock car, I won't convert it to a full-on race car, it will probably also be my DD at least in the summer.
