Help with new motor combo

So i tore my 305 down to replace the headgaskets cause of a overheating problem, and ended up finding metal all over the motor, so i figured it would be a good time to upgrade. My plan is a 383 short block from cnc-motorsports and Afr 210cc eliminator heads, but my question is will my 142 blower flow enough air to make any gains or would i be better off with a victor jr manifold with a 750hp carb and maybe a 250 shot since my car is already plumbed for nitrous. Im also replaceing my t-56 with a built th400 with a 4000 stall, thanks for any help or suggestions

Sounds like you gotta it figured out....You'd be better off with a Super Victor, or World Motown intake....If ur gonna use an HP carb, get the 950HP. Much better suited to this combo..

Re: Help with new motor combo

You'd have to buy a motor either setup for nitrous or a motor setup for the blower, which I wouldn't bother unless you were doing a 6-71 or larger if you wanted a roots or a bigger procharger in which I'd go efi then. The ring gap will have to be set for that big a shot and you'd need a nitrous converter and a nitrous cam. Those 4.11 gears might be too big for that much nitrous unless you ran a tall tire. Are you thinking pump gas or race gas combo when you're n/a. With that size shot it'll definitely be race gas 113 or 116 when spraying.

Re: Help with new motor combo

The motor will deffinetly run on pump gas since i drive it a few times a week, if i go with nitrous i would put 110 race fuel in it when i go to the track and pull 6 degrees of timing, i ran a 250 shot on my 305 with 110 in it and never had any problems with it. Or what i was thinking of doing is buying a shortblock set up for a blower with je blower pistons 8.5-1, and use my 142 blower for a year or so, then upgrade to a d1sc or a f1, i dont want a roots blower cause i dont like stuff hanging out of the hood, plus its hard enough to see around the 4" cowl hood

Whoa you ran a 250 shot on your 305? What internals were you running, if you don't mind my asking? I'm planning on spraying mine this year and was torn between whether or not to hit it with a 125 or a 150 as I was afraid I'd be pushing my luck with a 150 shot.

Re: Help with new motor combo

you ran a 250 shot and ONLY pulled 6 degrees of timing? Did you run your nitrous through a -6 feed line since the -4 line won't support that much IMO.

Re: Help with new motor combo

i only ran the 250 shot 2 times at the track, i usually sprayed a 150-175 shot and thats when i pulled 6 degrees, im not sure how much i pulled for the 250 shot, i never really got a succesfull run out of it, the only run that it didnt spin to bad it went a 7.23 in the 1/8 and i missed 5th gear right after the 1/8 marker.Im not sure what size line it is from the solenoid to the plate but i know it was a -6 from the bottle to the solenoid so what ever size port is in a super pro shot solenoid is probly the size of the line to the plate.
The bottom end was a stock 4 bolt 305 with forged speed pro pistons.
