Where to get extended wheel studs?

Anyone run extend wheel studs?
I just picked up a set of weld prostar wheels and tires and need longer wheel studs.
Whats the best place to find these?
What studs do you run with these wheels?

ARP

12mmx3.5" ones are what you need to be legal. The 2.5" ones are a little short

Re: Where to get extended wheel studs?

Rules state that the lug nut needs to thread onto the stud at least the diameter of the stud no added strength is added with more length. If the studs are shorter make sure you buy open face lug nuts so the tech inspector can see in them to see they are threaded on the requirement. In your case 12mm but the welds do have a thick center section that may require the longer studs to do this.

Don't forget the shank nuts with washers also.

Re: Where to get extended wheel studs?

I drilled out my frt. rotors and installed Moroso long studs, standard 7/16 fine thread. My rears are long also but I have a Ford rearend.

Re: Where to get extended wheel studs?

Do you need to pull the rear axles to install 3.5'' studs?
I have 10 1/2 20 shank nuts with washers and 10 7/16 shank nuts with washer

Can I run stock studs with 1.380 inch long shank bolts?
Is there any problem to this?

Re: Where to get extended wheel studs?

You've got me a little confused. You can't run anything but metric threaded nuts on stock metric threaded studs.

Re: Where to get extended wheel studs?

Ah yea I know problem is

I have stock studs on the car
I have a box of shank nuts which are standard 7/16
I was going to swap studs to use those but I am thinking I dont need to do that now.
Its only like 60 bucks for new shank nuts and the studs are fine on the car.

Re: Where to get extended wheel studs?

stock studs are not long enough to pass tech or be safe with pro stars on the vehicle. 7/16 studs are small, I wouldn't run under 12mm or 1/2", but the knurl size of the stud may be different than the rotor opening if you don't run the 12mm ARP ones that are made for the opening
