am i loosing anything with my ignition setup
ive had my eye on the grid system from msd for a while now. it looks bad ***. way more tune-ability. my current setup is all msd. older 6al box with a blaster coil and locked out billet distributor at 36*. its a 434sbc on alky running 9.8xs in good weather. i plan on running my current motor combo all of the 2014 season then pull the motor that winter. 2015 goal would be to get in the 8.80-8.70 range. so im looking for some thing that i will benefit from both now and down the road(id rather have the learning curve on an old build than a fresh motor). ill be spending a good chunk of $$ on the motor next year so what ever i can do now to ease the pain so to speak next year would be nice.

I have been on both sides of the fence (lots of money into ignition, and very little), hard to say. I had a hard time finding a dyno or a before and after that convinced me to dump $1500 into my ignition system this time around, but I don't have 1% of the motor you do.

A grid system is the way to go but unless you intend to spend many hours on a dyno fine tuning the system, you probably won't see much of an improvement.
I currently run a Holley Strip Annihilator ignition box. I have a new Pro Strip Annihilator ready to install but haven't got around to it yet. It's more ignition box than I need but I got a good deal on it.
Coil is the MSD HVC-2 to produce lots of amperage for the plugs. With alcohol, I'm dumping a lot of fuel into the cylinders and want to make sure the flame stays lit. MSD distributor and 8.5 wires. NGK race plugs. I'd love to upgrade to Firecore wires to lessen the ignition noise but I also run a huge ignition capacitor to remove and big voltage spikes.
For the average racer, any multi spark ignition system will work just fine. If you're a class racer where fractions of HP can mean win or lose then spending big bucks on a completely tunable ignition system is worth the money. If you have a lot of disposable income and want bragging rights to say you have a grid system, then go for it.

Re: am i loosing anything with my ignition setup
im going to run a small 150 shot of nitrous for this up coming season. so the grid system or the 7531 prob wouldn't be a bad investment. im not looking to win the biggest dick contest. but if i have to spend money to get the most out of my set up, i will. i, as well as many people i know never had any luck with Holley ignition systems.
