Car: Looking for a manual 3rd gen
Southern OR Camaros?

I've been on the prowl for a decent 5 speed, 3rd gen camaro in the south part of oregon for 2 weeks, know what I've seen? Everyone wants to get rid of their Automatics.

My first car was a stick and I should never have touched an automatic, it's so boring.

My uncle owned a Camaro when I was growing up and I've decided I'm going to get one of my own.

This is more or less just a rant. I'm just upset because I'm not one of those people that is unwilling to let go of their fun Camaros.

PS this site was a gem to find while on my journey to where ever I may find my 3rd gen. Also this is my first post on the message boards, thought I'd say hi, I'm sure i'll be asking some dumb questions here as soon as I find a decent project car.

What do you expect to invest into your project IROC-Z 5 speed when you find it?

I am just finishing one, a 1987 IROC-Z 305 TPI 5 Speed, new body, new mechanical, including a new engine, new interior, etc. It's the VIN White, Saddle interior and gold emblems and wheel accents, 16" Z rated tires.

Honestly I just want something that runs that I can work on, I'm a mechanically minded person but I've always opted for a car that functioned mainly for getting to and from work. I'm at a point where I want a car I can put something into and get something out of it in return (performance and looks).

I'm hoping for something 82'-85' (which wouldn't be and IROC *edit* the 85 could be) TPI/TBI. I'm still doing some research on what I want, but I just want something that I can shift while I drive, that has more power that my recently defunct dodge caravan (great for traveling across the country, not so cool to drive)

Ideally I'm looking at something available for roughly $1000 that runs so I can pour some time and money into it over a year or less.

Sounds sweet! For some reason I can only imagine IROC-Z's in my head as being blue...

3rd Gen, I bought a 91 Z/28 350 auto in Grants Pass in April 2010. I feel the same way you do. Autos are boring. I'm doing a 5 speed swap, but I am still looking for a V8 5 speed tranny for cheap. Just keep hitting Craigslist. Thats what I did and am doing. I'll look around for you on Craigslist.

Yeah I've been looking all up and down the I-5 with CL, there are a few that sound great but are a little out of my price range, and driving range. I'm probably going to do the same, going to go look at two automatics this week.
