New (sort of) member here.
I've seen so many of these posts on the other forums I'm on, but I had no idea I'd be posting one here now.
Yesterday I fulfilled a couple of things on my bucket list in one shot: I bought a Third Gen Z/28. It took me about 32 years, but I finally got one of the Camaros I've always wanted since I first saw it back in '82.
I've owned several Camaros over the years, starting with my very first car- a '69 Camaro when I was in high school. I later had a '73, and then a long dry spell until I fell into a 2010 Synergy Edition Camaro four years ago. I've always had my eye on the third gens, and last week, an opportunity came along that I couldn't pass up. I managed to pick up a running/driving '83 Z/28 for an irresistible price of $1300. The car's one owner loved it, and she was more interested in finding a home for it where it would be appreciated. She had turned down other offers on the car because she could tell that the buyers would be likely to trash the Camaro rather than preserve it. She had her daughter appeal to my local Camaro club, and I answered the ad (after almost passing on it.) It's all original. CFI is still there and working. The T-tops leak (of course). The sheet metal is all straight, and the silver paint is in surprisingly good shape, after I washed the algae off of it.
Some here might already know me from the 5th gen forum, and I'm happy to finally join the 3rd gen ranks.
Hope to see you around!

Re: New (sort of) member here.
I love it when a Camaro gets rescued like that! I drive past a red IROC sitting in a yard that looks a lot like that one (only it has more stuff growing on it), every day. I've often thought about pulling in and asking about it, but I'm guessing I wouldn't be the first. Plus we all like to dream that we'd get it for a steal, and all it would take is a good wash, new battery, tires and an oil change, and it would be off and running. I've seen too many trashed 3rd gens to believe that happens very often. But once in awhile we get lucky.
I'm dying to get working on mine, but between the rain and my other responsibilities, I haven't been able to get to it. I'm really anxious to drive it!

Thanks! I like it. I like the green one too! I like the stock Z28 wheels better though. Hang on to that 83. They are getting to be a rare sight.
