Coolest paint job on a 3rd gen Camaro you have ever seen
Show me some pics. I'm getting my IROC painted soon and want some ideas. I was going to get Viper Steel Grey but someone around here JUST got their 3rd gen painted steel grey w/ silver racing stripes. All ideas are welcome, I want something a little different that looks GREAT.
I plan on getting an IROC Turbo hood and I was thinking either red w/ silver racing stripes or maybe a 1st gen theme, like fathom green w/ white hockey sticks or Baldwin Motion stripes. Although, I don't know if I like the idea of doing a 1st gen theme on a 3rd gen yet. Opinions and pics???

This is what I was thinking w/ the IROC Turbo hood and silver racing stripes, except the blue would be red.

I was at first going to paint my iroc purple with yellow decals but now i am going with corvette yellow and purple iroc decals... go figure. BUt in reality the best paint Ive seen on a camaro is silver, i think its the best looking color out their. Why am I not doing it you ask? Because i spent money on custom badges that are mirrored and yellow and that wont go with silver at all. By the way anyone with a yellow iroc please post.

I agree, that hood just doesn't look right with those stripes. Otherwise it's sweet, but the Flamin Red Killer Z's paint owns all, along with 86FYRBIRDS paint.

Thanks a lot jawz, that looks sweet!!!
I like the hood, it is the only thing I am sure that I am getting for the car. I saw one on an IROC in Plymouth, Mich today, looked good. I like those rims too, but I'm still thinking about 17x11 and 17x9 chrome ZR1's.

I think that particular hood makes those racing stripes work. I don't care for racing stripes personally, it seems like everyone has them done, but in that particular case, I think the hood gives it a unique enough look to pull it off. Don't change it. I do think the blue worked better than the red though. Maybe try it with different colored stripes? Blue and Silver just go together.

I think you should go teal with those silver stripes I think that's what I'm gonna do. Or get a Chamelion paint job, cost you a butt load but that would be definatly different . OR go with bright orange with white or gray stipes that would bad *** also

if you want silver you should paint your car silver........always go with what you want as you'll be happier in the end.
a nice bright orange with a gold pearl would be sweet and original for a thirdgen.
as well as a nice bright green with the same setup.
alot of it has to do with the money you want to spend........if your cost concious than i would go with a solid color with a pearl at most seeing as how chromillusion type paints are typically twice the amount and candies are usually 3 times!
anything you do as long as it's done right should look good; just take your time and be sure to do what you like........the compliments will come later!
good luck, can't wait to see it.

I got a couple of pics of my car in my signature. It is House of Kolor Kandy apple Red with Chrome Illusion Paint on the cowl hood and ground effects. You really can't see how good the paint is in the pictures cause of the day I took them. Look at this pic in the sunset.

I honestly dont know what anyone sees in that hood, it has to be the tackiest third gen accesory I have ever seen. It looks like someone made it out of cardboard and glued it on. IMHO, I think a plain cowl looks much better and doesnt scream "tacky" so much. Just giving my honest opinion, dont want anyone getting mad at me, its just what i think.

"i agree...i think louvers in general scream 80's wt. That's what i have the blisters on my car. Maybe the daytona hood with blisters, but even so, it's gaudy...there's like 50 other much cleaner hood designs for thirdgen camaros."
Being able to keep the louvers is the biggest reason I like the hood. And these cars ARE fom the 80's/early 90's, so what's wrong if they look like they are from the 80's? If I wanted a 4th gen "SS" lookin car or a Ram-Air hood, I'd buy a new F-body. Although I DO think the "SS" hood looks very good on 3rd gen RS's and Z's, I just think an IROC should have louvers on the hood. 4th gens look terrible, with the exception of LS1 Ram-Air TA's. As much as I hate to see the 4th gen F-bodies go, I can see why they didn't sell well, they are not attractive (among the MANY other reasons leading to their demise). And plain cowl hoods look like cheap crap to me, especially the tall ones. A plain cowl would scream wt more than ANYTHING else besides a schload of rust and a ******. Just my opinions and why I decided on that hood.
Back on topic, anyone else have any pics of cool paint ideas?

i see a straight up silver camaro around here, i know the guys sister. It's silver, with tail light blackouts, alloy wheels and t tops. it's clean, and a real sleeper. I wish i had a pic. I've seen many unexpecting honda owners Get SMOKKKEEED on the freeway by him. It's definately not stock.

I saw this on a '67 Camaro and thought it looked good :
Silver with maroon stripes. It looked racy, but classy.
Certianly different from the Blue/white, Red/white norm

I agree that the daytona hood looks pretty bad. It doesn't take the styling of the rest of the car into consideration. It simply looks out of place.
If there were a Camaro in the movie Corvette Summer, it would have had that hood on it.

Hey, wow! Chrome with purple stripes!
Chrome would be really cool, if you could figure out how to pull it off.

guys..that hood reeks of 80's cheese. Just because you're car was made in the 80's doesn't mean you have to succumb to every tacky style that existed during that decade. Whats next? Driving around blasting Poison and Lita Ford albums? Maybe some neon wiper blade extensions too!
Plain Cowl hoods look less flimsy.

i love listening to poison, warrant, the crue and every other kick *** song from the 80's..........just because you live in the now doesn't mean you have to cruise around listening to nirvana or britney spears.
while i'm not a fan of the hood or alot of different styles from any years it's not my problem or any one elses...........build your car for yourself people.

Ummm..if you put something on this board, you should expect commentary on it..positive or negative. I was merely making a joke in reference to somebody's comment. If thats the hood he loves, he should get it. I think it looks dorky.
I was a teen in the 80's when those hoods were popular and kids drove Irocs, TAs, and GNs instead of Civics, VWs, and SUVs. Back then we used to make fun of guys who had that hood and the flourescent "heartbeat pinstripes" and floating neon lights the accompanied it. They were usually guidos who's parents bought them the car for their 17th birthday. Shortly afterwards they would go crazy with their "allowance" and buy all that crap. Kinda runs a parallel with the snotty little punks of today we make fun of who get civics and put all that tacky stuff on it, doesnt it?
FYI..I like the raise on the hood and the Iroc louvres..its just those goofy holes on the sides that suck.
just my 2 cents

I think the car would look good if you painted it red with silver stripes. The stripes and the turbo hood will offset each other nicely as well.
An SS hood would look great, too o.o.....

The picture of the Camaro you're all displaying is my Camaro. :-)
I chose that hood for 2 reasons.
1. The particular "Mean" look it tends to give to the car when looking at it from the front (my opinion).
2. The uniqueness of it as I only know of 3 here in Vancouver that have this hood. Seeing how it's only available from 2 places (US), not many here in Vancouver, B.C will have seen one in person. And from the very possitive comments i've received over the years, this seems true.
I am particular on uniqueness.. Blue with white stripes is very common.. Very rarely do you see Blue/Silver combination and that is why I chose silver to be painted on.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
