Re: question regarding engine codes
Have no idea what TPA is. What your looking for is numbers, on the driver side block at the top - it's really hard to see in the car - they are located directly straight down from where yoour windshield washer motor is. should be like 3970010. www.mortec.com will show you where the numbers are, and what they translate to.

Re: question regarding engine codes
Casting numbers don't tell you a lot. They're a quick and easy way to see what an engine might be, such as if it's a 305 or a 350. Since the same casting can be used over many years and models, it's hard to say exactly what it is from just a casting number. As an example, the common 010 casting for a 4" bore block was used for many years to make 302, 327 and 350 engines.
Suffix codes are usually hard to read. Since they're stamped in, some letters can easily be mistaken for something else. The letter B or R could look like a P or an F etc. It all depends on how well the letters are stamped into the metal. What are the rest of the numbers stamped in that area. They'll tell a little more information.
TPA
Well T means it's out of a truck. Usually a pickup, van or bus but I also can't find any listing for TPA but that doesn't mean there isn't one.

Re: question regarding engine codes
Looks like TPA is one of the newer casting numbers. It's out of a 1992 truck. It's a 350 rated at 210 HP with a TBI. It's an L05 engine.
Re: question regarding engine codes
