In Tank Or In Line Fuel Pump?
Hey all,
Just wondered what most thought would be a better choice
dropping the tank and changing the stock pump with a high flow unit or add an inline like a t-rex or similar?
Dropping the tank on our cars is no fun but i think it may be the way to go quieter, less voltage draw.

Drop the tank.
I just got done with this experience... Intank was going out, so I threw a 255 vortech t-rex inline...
it worked GREAT! for about 2 weeks. Then it left me stranded.. it couldnt suck through the intank anymore..
So I got the pleasure of buying a new granatelli 255 intank, and THEN a new vortech T-rex.. because, OH YEAH.. when they suck air instead of fuel, they burn out quickly.
I dont feel like arguing the point of cutting the "hole", but thats the route I went.. and it turned out beautiful. Dzus fasteners, aluminum access port, completely stealth.
and it doesnt affect structural integrity..

LOL, thanks
Ive done the hole twice ,in my 82 to make the pick up 1/2
and to a friends car to change the pump but dont plan on doing it to this car yet.
Also would not recomend this process to anybody who is not very handy with a whiz wheel and knows exactly how far away the
tank is from floor.

I didnt "cut" the hole per say..
I 'tore' it sardine can style.. I used a dremel with a stop drill bit (only allowing the bit to travel 1/4")
I then popped the space between the pilot holes, and rolled the metal back...
It looked ****ty as **** after that (all uneven) So i went to work with tin snips and a file..
It turned out beautiful.

after seeing alot of intank "performance" and "stock" pumps fail, I finally came across the walbro unit sold for mustangs (255lph) and after selling about 200 of the things I've never had onle fail yet, so I put one in the camaro, and I will still use an inline also. I see alot of blown cars come in without the inline from the kit installed and customers tell me they have a 255 LPH intank so they wont bopther installing the in line, and the dyno and the fuel pressure gauge tell the story. you can always get a tank from a early carbed car and use a monster inline (dont forget to get the tank straps too) I did that once with some success. go sumped, its the tops.
