Made MAJOR progress today! Car about ready to start

My friend Jerry stopped by early and woke me up today and we got started on the car. Worked till 7pm and almost ready to start the car. Have to do a little welding on my wastegate to downpipe tube but then it should be ready to start up. Going to get that breaker and wires in the garage tomorrow to get the TIG welder going (its a 220 welder)

Anyway, here are some photos! Enjoy

Nice! Are you going to get some track times before the snow flies? I think I'm going to get back into cars after taking the summer off...

Well, I want to have the car ready to take to the dyno next weekend (not this coming but the one after) and as soon as its safe on the dyno then it will be off to the track for a few testing sessions. Im hoping to take the car to the thunder shootout (www.thundershootout.com) November 2nd.

So I have to have the car done, tuned and confidant it will go down the track before I drive 11 or 12 hours on an untested car.

Curt, I KNOW you're not going to use that stainless band clamp to hold your intake tube to the TB. ????????????

Good luck on the dyno If you could post/email some detailed notes on initial setup (fuel & timing), those dyno noumbers, and how things changed as you get it dialed in, I'd be very interested.

A.

PS - We just got in the Southern Shootout dash plaque proofs back from the Laser place. You guys should like them I'll try to sneak in some third-gens the next time we do dash plaques for events.

Have no idea what its going to do on the dyno. It should be interesting that's for sure.

Not using that bandclamp. That is what I had at the moment to hold it. LOL

Have some clamps to hold it.

It turned over last night and popped a couple times! Fixed 3 leaks and then found one more. It was late so we went in. It did pop like it wanted to start though!

Going to get it running tonight for sure.

Well? Just kidding!

Man, that thing's amazing, Guido...
One day I wanna build a twinturbo 406 SBC Trans Am. Can't I flip over some shorty headers as turbo manifolds? This is way in the future, but I was curious. What would be a good size of turbos to run in a setup such like that? I read the post about the guy with the Vette with P52s who made 1200hp... that's kinda what I was thinking about, but with less complicated turbo manifolds as I said above...

Once again, amazing car! Can't wait to see a video or something! What are you doing to the rest of the drivetrain/suspension to beef it up? Dana 60 rear? Ford 9"? Hope you get it runnin' soon, and good luck with it!

Later,
Chris

hey did you get the tube to quit blowing off? What happens if a guy puts the TB at the turbo inlet and flanges the spot where the pipe that normally feeds the TB and bolts it to the intake elbow? It might be too much for you to do now in hind sight but how about if it is designed that way from the get go. will it restrict the incoming air to the turbo too much? can a flange be welded to the TB to give a rigid mounting? I see this really thick blue silicoln hose used on turbo trucks that can withstand exaust gasses or be used on the intake tract have you seen it before (some fords have it stock)? If you got a section of that it might be "blow proof"
