Blower "471 SINGLE QUAD SYSTEM"???

I was looking at this B&M blower and I asked the guy what CID or air per revolutions is this. The dude knows nothing about blowers at all but he called the guy he bought it from and he said that guy said it was a "471 SINGLE QUAD SYSTEM".... What the heck does that mean?!?!!? It's a short snout single carb blower. I know they make 142, 144, 174, 177 and 256 CID single carb blowers but I have never heard of this 471 SINGLE QUAD SYSTEM. That does it mean? What CID is it or what number blower? Please help. Thanks

he prolly meant a 4-71 blower. it is the size of blower that gm put on their 4 cylinder deisels, with each cylinder displacing 71 cubic inches.

if this is true, it is in the same class of blower that give you the 6-71 all the way up to the 14-71 blowers on the top fuel dragsters.

because these blowers are just blowers...and not a performance only part, theres alot of options out there.

there are 100s of bases out there to bolt that onto almost any motor... and there are a few top plate designs... the plate bolts on there and you put your carb(s) on top.... im sure someone out there has a setup for a single carb.... heck ive seen a setup for 4 sidedraft carbs before.......

Thanks for your replys it helps a lot but doesn't really answer my question. I found this chart:
The first # is the blower # and the second is the CID that is produced.

Weiand 6-71
411

Weiand 8-71
436

Weiand 10-71
469

Weiand 12-71
497

Weiand 14-71
522

If it is a 4-71 which is probably is, then would it just follow the trend? The rend with this chart is about 25 CID per 2 diesel cylinders up. So would the CID of 4-71 be about 386?

Get in touch with BDS (Blower Drive Systems). They would be able to answer that question most directly. The answer might be right on their website. I don't believe the ci/revolution comes up that slowly on bigger blowers but that's just guesswork on my part.

The smaller 142/144/177/256 blowers you KNOW how many ci it moves because the number directly corresponds to it's displacement.

Regardless, once you have your answer please remember that your engine only inhales every OTHER revolution. i.e. it's only inhaling HALF it's displacement with every engine revolution. That's how a little tiny 142 blower can keep up with a 350ci engine (plus it's over-driven almost 2:1)
