Question for those with NOS Super Powershot system

I am trying to find out a few things about this plate.

I'm trying to find out how the spray bars are oriented in the plate, how thick the plate is, and just to verify, this does use NOS flare jets, correct?

As we all know holley tech-support is not very responsive, i'm hoping someone here can answer those couple of questions.

Thanks,
John

Sprey bars run front to rear on the intake - right above a dual plane seperator. The plate is 1/2" thick and uses NOS flare jets.

The super power shot plate takes NOS jets, the regular power shot plate will not take jets as it has a brass pre-jetted compression fitting.

The regular power shot plate:

It comes in a permanently prejetted 75 for the V6 kits and a permanently jetted 100/125 shot for the V8 depending on what year of kit you have. The regular power shot spray bars have just a few precision drilled holes at the same 45 and 90 degree angles as other nitrous plates except that they work in concert with the precision orafice in the brass compression fitting located where the super power shot's jet holder would go to produce this "preset" horse power level. This is why simply unscrewing the preset brass compression fitting and replacing it with the super powershot style "jet holder" fitting creates such poor or mixed results. Doing this does not turn a power shot into a super powershot as some mistakenly believe. There just arent the same number or size of holes.

The super power shot plate:

Instead of just having a few holes like the regular power shot, it has a "row" of holes in the top (nitrous) spraybar that also point downward at approximately 45 degrees. The bottom bar has a set of holes that spray straight out 90 degrees. This allows the high pressure nitrous to spray through the streams of fuel to shear and atomize the fuel before it goes into the engine for the best mixture. Plain and simply, the super power shot plate is a cheater plate. Also the spraybar type plate that comes in the TPI 5151 kit is drilled with the same number and same size as the super power shot/cheater plate. This comes directly from NOS tech. Getting cheater selenoids and jets and the larger line makes it a cheater kit. I don't know if I could recommend this on a 5151 TPI kit though.

This information represents some research I did a couple years ago based on information provided by NOS and from actually having the spray plates in my hands and comparing them. Comparing the two plates and seeing how different they were generated a great deal of questions which we then asked NOS tech (after waiting forever to get through).

If this information has changed in the last 2 or 3 years I cannot say.

they may have changed the kit as i plled this from their web site......Super PowershotTM systems are identical to PowershotTM systems with the exception that they come with NOS® Jet Pack, P/N 13720. With this addition Super PowershotTM systems can be adjusted to three (3) different power levels: 100 HP, 125 HP and 150 HP.

Thanks guys, Between that and the info i got from the holley techs. I think am set.

Long story short, i picked up a power shot kit for $100, including everything, noids, lines, bottle, electronics. But i needed to get a new plate so i can jet it (TBI application, with a single plane intake).

I think I finaly have everything worked out now. The last thing i am trying to figure out, is is the blow-down tube. Not sure if i just need to tube, or if i need the blow-off cap also.

Thanks, for the help.

yes powershot to super powershot = needs new plate

if you get a blow down tube you will need a cap as well, the cap cannot be replaced while the bottle has any in it.
