what did you do for the exhaust manifolds? I heard you can take some shorties and flip them and mount the turbo on top. Is this with any pair of shorty headers?

I have a radical cam along with the intake modifed so 19# injectors wont cut it. Im going up to 36 or maybe even 42# at 8lbs of boost. I did install an aftermarket Holley Electrical intank power adder fuel pump just for good insurance. My suggestion? Read into it, especially if you're gonna convert to Speed Density and go with the 7749 Prom. If you do a search, every single question that you'll have can be found on this forum, that's how i learned. Good luck.

The BBSDesign headers are nice from what I have seen. You could also make your own like 89JYTurbo did. Do a search and you will find some pics of them.
Here is a pic of my current 305ci twin turbo project. I planned to have it running by Christmas but that didn't happen. Hopefully, it will be ready for the beginning of February.

Hey, I am mildly moded 305 guy running twins. I will have pics soon. Trust me, its well worth it . Boost on V8s is fantastic. Its also contagous. My friend now wants to build one too. Its just sick to Rape modified LS1's from a roll. After you race, they dont believe you that its a 305 cu in.

You might have already seen mine. I just finished recently, but I still have a lot of tuning to do. If you have a limited budget, I suggest that you fabricate your own headers. You can save a lot that way. Mine only cost me $100 and modifying them was free.

OK, here is a picture of mine... still needs some touching up. Runs bad *** though... and yes I have two alternators. I did not feel like wasting money on a stupid a/c delete pulley ($75.00) so I threw a old spare alternator to take its place. I am going to redo the t-pipe into a smooth Y, although I know it does not hurt me in any way. I am very happy with my setup's power output.

Mark,
It's a custom made piece. It started as a mandrel bent 2.5" pipe that was split down the middle and welded back together with two flat sections. This was done by Spintech. I then had it further modified by welding on a fabbed water injection nozzle holder and BOV base, followed by grinding/sanding the welds. When I have other parts ready to get chrome plated, this piece will be too.

I bought my water injection stuff from Carroll Supercharging about five years ago. This included a pump, a Hobbs switch to activate the pump and stainless nozzles of varying sizes. At that time, the technology in water injection called for the use of a mix of denatured alcohol and distilled water. Today, methanol seems to be the way to go.
Although my pump is getting old, I'm planning on using it but with a progressive controller designed by Julio Don from
www.alkycontrol.com
I don't really care for Snow's stuff for a couple of reasons. The pump they sell is made by Sure-flo (sp?) and the seals are not replaced with methanol compatible seals. Eventually, they will give out. Julio replaces the seals. Secondly, their controller is a box that's mounted under the hood and cannot be adjusted from the driver's seat. Julio's is. Also, Snow seems to cater more towards Fords (I know, I drive a Cobra) and Julio's personal vehicle is a TTA that runs 26-psig boost and a ton of methanol. I feel he has the experience when it comes to GM cars.

As far as water/alcohol injection…. Just about everything out there leaves a bad taste in my mouth for one reason or another.
What pump is that old carrol kit using?
I’m not sure that I believe that progressive controllers for those pumps really react fast enough to really work effectively, yea, they will prevent many of the problems that you have one big shot, but once you get them to work without bogging I’m more afraid that you end up with too little in the transients then too much. When I have actually played with it I actually used proper injectors with a regulated supply that were pulsed by one of the auxiliary circuits in a haltech ecm, and you could control water delilvery just like you control fuel delivery.
As far as the water/alcohol thing… well, I don’t like the idea of having auxiliary setup that is not that well metered adding FUEL to the system, and in most cases, “tuning” involves decreasing actual fuel injector pulse widths till you run fastest… I don’t know that I’ve ever seen anyone running a water injection setup that couldn’t be made to work for the application with just water and end up much safer in the long run.

I've went from putting a 350 in my bird to thinking about rebuilding my 305 and putting a turbo(s) on it. What kind of turbochargers do y'all use and what kind of other equipment do I need to look at when pricing a system?

To those with the twin turbo's. Yu must be anticipating a great amount of boost, and air volume. My question is what have you done with the 305s lower end. How have you built the 305s to accept this type of power?

I have run 14# boost with my former D1SC / single intercooler with no problems. The E/T from my best run with this setup will be my baseline to see if the same amount of boost with twin turbos yields better results. My mods are too extensive to list here.

Four-bolt mains with inner studs and splayed outers.
Cola 4340 forged crank.
Manley floating H-beam rods.
JE forged dish pistons (8.5 CR).
AFR 190 heads.
ARP head studs.
Cometic MLS head gaskets.
AFR Hydra-Rev.
.... and on and on.....

It doesn't matter if it is twin's or single in terms of HP. Either setup can make big HP if desired.
I did nothing to the bottom end of the 305ci that I am using. The only thing I have going for me are adjustable wastegates and a PROM programmer. These are the only things that will save the 305ci from coming apart. I am going to run 6 PSI of boost and 30#/hr injectors and tune accordingly. Maybe turn the boost up to 10 PSI for a 1/4 mile night and some race gas if it needs it. Intercooler is 4.5" thick and flows for 800+ FWHP so there should be a fair amount of cooling.

Can TBI's be boosted??? How can it be done??
With crane HI-6s you can use another MAP sensor, I am sure that could help! Than tune for fuel, or at least use a vacum adjusted fuel preassure regulator.

No dyno time yet or track times. I dont have a chance to do anything cause I am full time mechanic and go to aviation technical school at night. Only time I have is weekend nights when I go to local hang outs. Now nobody wants to run me anymore. I raped some a strong LS1. I am going to take on a 06 Mustang Salleen soon. Just tuning my car for the nitrous now. Its hard to tune the carb with boost and nitrous. Everyone out there just throws me at insane cars like a 800hp mustang with a tubbed out rear and slicks. They are just stupid, how the heck am I going to race such a monster. That thing will swallow me whole. Anyway, those of you staring at the kits and pondering on whether to do it or not, JUST BUILD IT or at least start it. We need more boosted V-8's kicking turbo imports a$$.

Hey Willie, I see you changed your pipe to chrome like mine. Looks very nice. I am changing my set up a little bit also. I got a new better carb hat which has dual 2.5 inlets which will eliminate my flaw which is the T in my system. Also I am doing mandrel bends and having it also chrome plated, but I regret the money I spent to chrome plate my current one's. They are useless now.
Keep up the great work Willie.

1 2.5" to 3" transition 90 silicone elbow
2 3" silicone couplers
