afr heads for a 355.?
i have a new set of the 210 eleminator heads from afr. now i have a problem and a question. first they flow like crazy. but they are really shrouded by my 350s bore size. the copper gasket that it to to match up with the width of the chamer had to be 4.200" thats 2 tenths bigger than the bore. do you guys see this as a problem if so what do you recomend i do?

they are 2.08 and 1.6 but the chamber is cncported wider than most its exactly 4.200" i know the vavles dont hit i was more worried about what is happening to the flow? it went 9.93 with them on and 10.19 with a set of edelbrock vr jrs. so it did pick up

Haven't used the 210 small block head but I found the exact same thing when I installed a set of their big block heads (305cc retangle port heads) on a 454 big block I built recently. I think they were really designed to work their best on a bigger bore (502 or larger) engine.
I also had to use a head gasket designed to fit a considerably larger 4.5" bore (vs. the 4.25" bore of a factory 454) to keep from having it hang into the chambers. The chamber definitely overhung the stock bore, especially near the exhaust valve- you could see it plainly when I dropped the heads onto an empty block and looked up the bore from underneath. On a 502 block with the larger 4.5" bore the chambers would have matched the bore perfectly.
Yes, it hurts flow some. No, it won't cause any problems as long as your head gasket does not hang into the chamber.

Re: afr heads for a 355.?
i had the AFR 210 competition cnc ported (non eliminator) heads on my last motor (4.040 bore) and there was no problem with flow on that small of a bore. Unless you are running alot of compression, big cam or some sort of power adder, you should go with the 195 eliminators, they flow just as much as the older 210cc heads and would be better matched with a 350 based motor, where as in my opinion the 210's are more suited for 400+ cubes or a serious 350 based motor.
